Journey is the colour of the Year for Close to My Heart which I am very excited about its very similar to the colour of my car which is also my favourite colour. So when it first arrived I got excited and took lots of photos because it matched my finger nails too.
So when this challenge was announced in our Design Team Group I was excited. To start this card I pulled out all my Color of the Year Bundle
I hadn't even opened my Journey Ink yet, I also pulled out my new
Royal Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad which hadn't been opened yet either. Then my 3rd colour Lagoon for this challenge.
I pulled out my stencils to start playing with the colours. I cut a white daisy card section at 5.5x2 and a 5.25x 4. I started with the Lagoon Ink because it was open and did the small section using the
Slimline Card Front Stencil Bundle leaf stencil. Lagoon is also lighter than Journey so I thought I would start with lighter colours and move darker with my Blending Brushes.
After I did the lagoon leaves I pulled out the 12x12 sized Stencil Bundle and found the stars. They have 4 sections that rotate to over lay each of them.
I started the stars with the lagoon ink as well and then did the overlay with Journey Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and one of the other corners of the stencil.
Then I used Royal Ink for one of the star stencil sections.
I didn't end up using the first panel I created but I have it ready for my next card.
After I'd finished the stars with the Lagoon, Journey, and Royal I decided I wanted to add the sentiment and thought I would add it on top but I really didn't want to cover up any of the stars so I pulled out my new stamp sets from the Essential Catalogue with Starter Sentiments Stamp Set and the Starter Alphabet Stamp Set and realised that I could fit the words in the spaces left by the star stencil. I wanted to make a birthday card for my mum who's birthday is the day this challenge goes live! I stamped each word in one of each of the colours for this challenge.
I had made a small smudge at the top near the big star so to finish off the panel I added
Journey Loose Sequins with Glue Dots®. I only used the darkest sequins that looked most similar to the cardstock.
I also inked the edges of the white daisy cardstock with Journey ink but you can't really tell.
To finish the card I added Journey Cardstock at the size of the card front - 4.25 x 5.5. Then added the white daisy panel with 3D foam tape.
