Colour Dare #514 Inspirational Image

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Distress Oxide, thank you, thin cuts, color dare, sponging, ranger distress oxide inks, thanks, cards, cardmaking,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #514 is an inspirational image that you need to choose at least 3 of the colours pictured, plus Black, White & Gold which are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #514 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I decided the blue in the water was very similar to the Close to My Heart colour Harbour so I pulled out some Harbour Cardstock. I also noted in the recent flash sale that there was still some of the A Big Thank You Thin Cuts available (now they are very limited and will be sold out soon, so go to my website ASAP if you want to order one). I cut a bit of cardstock into 4.25 wide by 12 inches then cut in half so 2 bits 6 inches tall and 4.25 wide (but the thin cut is thinner than the whole card front so I could have probably cut a 4inch strip). I layered both bits of Harbour and ran it thru my Big Shot once but cut two out.

I sponged them with Mini Ink Blending Tool x3 (for ease of blending.. why not if you have enough might as well use enough).

On my first one I did 3 spots of peacock first and then filled in with the lighter colour. On the second One (on the left), I did yellow and orange in diagonal stripes in the centre and peacock on the outside.

Then I sprayed with water and dripped water onto the distress oxides to give it the water look. I was in a hurry so dabbed off the water with a tissue.

Then I overlaid the A Big Thank You Thin Cuts  in Harbour Cardstock and it created a quick and effective card. I did think I could put some bling on but I was happy with how it turned out without. Using the sponging techniques it was really easy to create various cards quickly and easily with just varying the distress oxide ink colours. A simple and effective card. Great for replicating for a big event where you need to create LOTS of thankyous.

I created this distressing (above) first but the Thank you is not standing out as much as the 2nd one (below). I like the blue on the corners and the bright middle.
