My daughter wanted a birthday card for her friend who was having a high tea with a Coquette aesthetic... I had to google what it meant...

"The coquette aesthetic values are centered around a playful and flirtatious attitude, often with an emphasis on femininity and sensuality. Some common motifs, colors, hairstyles, makeup styles, and key clothing items associated with Coquette aesthetic include:

  • Hearts, bows, flowers, lace, polka dots, cherries, strawberries, and other cute and playful patterns.
  • Soft pinks, pastel blues, creams, whites, and other light and airy colors that emphasize a sweet and innocent look.
  • Soft, curly hairstyles with loose waves, braids, or updos adorned with hair accessories like bows or flowers.
  • Subtle, natural-looking makeup that enhances natural beauty, with a focus on flawless skin, rosy cheeks, and fluttery lashes. Glossy lips and a cat-eye eyeliner are also popular choices.
  • Coquette dresses and skirts in flowy fabrics like chiffon or tulle, often featuring ruffles, lace, or bows. Crop tops, off-the-shoulder tops, and other pieces that emphasize the collarbone and shoulders are also popular. High heels or platform shoes complete the look."

So originally I pulled out my ink colours I wanted to use - Mulberry, Periwinkle and Ballerina and used the "sample aesthetic" that my daughter gave me with the stamp set I had on my stamping station at the time... called Floral Sentiments Stamp Set D2122.

I decided it was a fail. I didn't like it and decided to change it up. I decided to go with Laces and doily's instead.

I pulled out my favourite Bring Back your Pack stamp set Love Doily Stamp Set and the
Cosette Cardmaking Workshop Kit patterned paper that is in the Mulberry colour. I had about a 3.75 inch square of the mulberry stripe and I stamped with Mulberry Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and then matted it with 4 inch bit of Mulberry Cardstock

I decided that I needed to layer the doily stamp... so I stamped in Ballerina Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad on French Vanilla Cardstock also with Mulberry Ink and cut them out with my fine point scissors. I offset them and adhered with 3D foam tape. I was surprised at how "brown" toned the Mulberry looked on the French Vanilla.

I was cardmaking after my daughter went to bed and I couldn't decide how to finish it. I had the Cosette die-cut embellishments with the bird, butterfly and leaves and was using my Blending Brushes in Glacier Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and Ballerina ink.

I have a retired lace thin cut that I cut with Glacier Cardstock and left it all sitting out on the table because I wasn't entirely confident in it.

Then next day I talked to my daughter and decided what we were going to do... I used the lace, removed all the Cosette Embellishments and stamped with Black Ink the Happy Birthday from my stamp set call... You Deserve It All Stamp + Thin Cuts

The photo above is the cream lace we wrapped around the gift and the mulberry looking dusky rose coloured lace that my daughter had in her hair. Below is her writing in the card with her mulberry/peach/ballerina/sage/ etc floral dress and mulberry lace in her hair. She wore pearl earrings and around her neck. She looked very in theme.

My daughter was very happy with the card and said it was in theme of the asthetic. PHEW... I'll take that as a win. She had a lovely time and has a lovely group of friends.
