Colour Dare #556 - Six Pack

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, coquette, #ctmhCosette, stamping, lace, doily, sponging, thin cuts, birthday card, happy birthday, 3D Foam,
Our Colour Dare Challenge for #556 is a Six Pack (You need to use at least 3 of the colours from the above picture). Plus.... Black, white, neutral and metallics free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #556 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

My daughter wanted a birthday card for her friend who was having a high tea with a Coquette aesthetic... I had to google what it meant...

"The coquette aesthetic values are centered around a playful and flirtatious attitude, often with an emphasis on femininity and sensuality. Some common motifs, colors, hairstyles, makeup styles, and key clothing items associated with Coquette aesthetic include:

  • Hearts, bows, flowers, lace, polka dots, cherries, strawberries, and other cute and playful patterns.
  • Soft pinks, pastel blues, creams, whites, and other light and airy colors that emphasize a sweet and innocent look.
  • Soft, curly hairstyles with loose waves, braids, or updos adorned with hair accessories like bows or flowers.
  • Subtle, natural-looking makeup that enhances natural beauty, with a focus on flawless skin, rosy cheeks, and fluttery lashes. Glossy lips and a cat-eye eyeliner are also popular choices.
  • Coquette dresses and skirts in flowy fabrics like chiffon or tulle, often featuring ruffles, lace, or bows. Crop tops, off-the-shoulder tops, and other pieces that emphasize the collarbone and shoulders are also popular. High heels or platform shoes complete the look."

So originally I pulled out my ink colours I wanted to use - Mulberry, Periwinkle and Ballerina and used the "sample aesthetic" that my daughter gave me with the stamp set I had on my stamping station at the time... called Floral Sentiments Stamp Set D2122.
#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, coquette, #ctmhCosette, stamping, lace, doily, sponging, thin cuts, birthday card, happy birthday, 3D Foam, Fail
I decided it was a fail. I didn't like it and decided to change it up. I decided to go with Laces and doily's instead.

I pulled out my favourite Bring Back your Pack stamp set Love Doily Stamp Set and the
Cosette Cardmaking Workshop Kit patterned paper that is in the Mulberry colour. I had about a 3.75 inch square of the mulberry stripe and I stamped with Mulberry Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and then matted it with 4 inch bit of Mulberry Cardstock

I decided that I needed to layer the doily stamp... so I stamped in Ballerina Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad on French Vanilla Cardstock also with Mulberry Ink and cut them out with my fine point scissors. I offset them and adhered with 3D foam tape. I was surprised at how "brown" toned the Mulberry looked on the French Vanilla.

I was cardmaking after my daughter went to bed and I couldn't decide how to finish it. I had the Cosette die-cut embellishments with the bird, butterfly and leaves and was using my Blending Brushes in Glacier Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and Ballerina ink.

I have a retired lace thin cut that I cut with Glacier Cardstock and left it all sitting out on the table because I wasn't entirely confident in it.

Then next day I talked to my daughter and decided what we were going to do... I used the lace, removed all the Cosette Embellishments and stamped with Black Ink the Happy Birthday from my stamp set call... You Deserve It All Stamp + Thin Cuts

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, coquette, #ctmhCosette, stamping, lace, doily, sponging, thin cuts, birthday card, happy birthday, 3D Foam,

The photo above is the cream lace we wrapped around the gift and the mulberry looking dusky rose coloured lace that my daughter had in her hair. Below is her writing in the card with her mulberry/peach/ballerina/sage/ etc floral dress and mulberry lace in her hair. She wore pearl earrings and around her neck. She looked very in theme.

My daughter was very happy with the card and said it was in theme of the asthetic. PHEW... I'll take that as a win. She had a lovely time and has a lovely group of friends.

I'm loving Cosette. The colours are really pretty. I used them ALL I couldn't choose just one row or column.
Check out the Close To My Heart YouTube video about Cosette HERE.

I made the cards when we were given for our CTMH Launch event and we were given cutting guides for 2 cards each. So I cut both but didn't want to make the cards the same so I flipped most of the paper and varied the cards.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhCosette, floral, flowers, You're the best, friend, happy, cardmaking, Butterflies, antique, sponging, watercolour brushes,
I really love the Cosette—Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts because they have thin cut shapes for the flowers plus the archway and oval. The archway and oval are perfect for card fronts but would also make great spaces on scrapbook pages.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhCosette, floral, flowers, You're the best, friend, happy, cardmaking, Butterflies, antique, sponging, watercolour brushes,

We coloured with Antique Pink TriBlend™ Marker, Dull Green TriBlend™ Marker

Gold Yellow TriBlend™ Marker, Ice Grey TriBlend™ Marker. Then we used Mulberry Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and Toffee Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and used a sponge for edges and background and water brush.

Some of the flowers were stamped on the die cuts and some where stamped directly on the ovals or arches.

Lots of splatter with the waterbrush. We also inked the edges of the Cosette Die-cuts (the butterfly, banner and hearts etc).

Colour Dare #543 Black and White plus One Colour

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhCosette, flowers, mulberry, shimmer trim, sponging, Black & White, Colour dare, Black, Thankful, thank you,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #543 is Lucky 7 Choose at Least 3 (All neutral and metallics free to use). When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #543 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. I've been creating with Cosette Scrapbooking Workshop Kit so when this challenge came up I thought oooh I love the Mulberry coloured paper.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhCosette, flowers, mulberry, shimmer trim, sponging, Black & White, Colour dare, Black, Thankful, thank you,

I cut the mulberry lined paper into 4x 5.25 inch square and inked the edges with Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad.

I cut an oval with the Cosette—Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts
and used a Round Sponge cut into wedges to ink the edge of the oval with Mulberry Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. Then I stamped on the oval with the flower stamp and thankful title in Black Ink.
#CTMHVandra, #ctmhCosette, flowers, mulberry, shimmer trim, sponging, Black & White, Colour dare, Black, Thankful, thank you,

I used an offcut of Mulberry Cardstock cut to 4.25 inches wide sitting across the card. I wanted to line the edge of the mulberry cardstock but the Black Shimmer Trim from my stash I had was too wide, so I decided to split in half. You cut it to the right length and stick it onto the base of the Aluminum Cut Rail Paper Trimmer across both sides and then slice it in half.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhCosette, flowers, mulberry, shimmer trim, sponging, Black & White, Colour dare, Black, Thankful, thank you,

I was able to finish with an uneven number of the Black & White Dots

Colour Dare #541 Shades of Grey plus 2 Colours

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, celebrate, #ctmhCosette, grey, Silver, banner, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, cardmaking, celebration, sketch, linen, charcoal, pewter, stamping,
Our Colour Dare Challenge for #541 is Shades of greys plus 2 colours of your choice (Black, white and metallics free to use but NO other neutrals). When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #541 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. I had some scraps left of a paper pack coming next month called Cosette from the April–June 2023 Catalogue. So I used a scrap of Pine Green paper from Cosette (Under the Celebrate sentiment) and some Mist blue design from a Zip Strip from Cosette (The grey/blue banner with white lines on it). You'll have to wait until 1st April to see the new catalogue - No Joke :)

Okay to start my card I pulled out my favourite grey colours...

Charcoal CardstockPewter Cardstock and Linen Cardstock.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, celebrate, #ctmhCosette, grey, Silver, banner, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, cardmaking, celebration, sketch, linen, charcoal, pewter, stamping,

Using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 517 as a basis for my design... I cut half an inch off each of the 3 cardstocks (or scraps already cut to half an inch) then cut them to 2 inches long. I used the backs and fronts of all 3 cardstock EXCEPT I realised that the dark side of Pewter is basically the light side of Charcoal so I didn't double up on those.

Charcoal

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, celebrate, #ctmhCosette, grey, Silver, banner, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, cardmaking, celebration, sketch, linen, charcoal, pewter, stamping,
Pewter

I went along and put the half inch strips along the bottom of my White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack card. Technically there should have been exactly the right amount of space so obviously some of my scraps were cut slightly less or more than half an inch so my spacing didn't line up as well as it should have... so I lined them all up from each side and stuck the last dark side of charcoal on last to even the weird spacing. It is centered so I don't hate it.

Finished the grey off that base section with some Silver Shimmer Trim (as a shade of grey and a metallic).

The title Celebrate is from For All Occasions Stamp Set. I stamped that in
Charcoal Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad on White Daisy Cardstock.

I used the Pine patterned paper from Cosette to back it and some leftover Charcoal Cardstock and the Mist Coloured zip strip with white stripe from Cosette as pennant banners.

I put them up higher than the sketch because the sentiment was smaller and I didn't want to cover the silver shimmer trim. I adhered the two banners on flat and the Celebrate sentiment up on 3-D Foam Tape.
