Colour Dare #572 Lucky 7 Home for Christmas

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #572 is a Lucky 7 challenge. You need to use 3 of the colours at least plus... you can also use Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. I wanted to create some earring holders for some earrings that my daughter made to gift to a charity drive currently happening called It's in the Bag - by the charity called Share the Dignity. If you're in Australia please consider this. "It’s in the Bag is one of Australia’s most loved Christmas appeals, where we encourage everyday Australians to put together Adult, Teen or Mum and Bub bags filled with essential items, and maybe some everyday luxuries and a handwritten note, to donate to someone in need for Christmas." 

My daughter is making Earrings to put into the bags from the "optional luxury item list". 

So I did a quick Pinterest check and found a few ideas for earring holders. I found this cool YouTube video via Pinterest called 3 DIY Earring Display Cards | Easy Jewelry Packaging Ideas | Handmade Gift I didn't use this person's idea specifically but I got some great ideas and decided to create a similar idea using products I had. 

I pulled out all my coloured cardstock in the greens and reds - Candy Apple Cardstock, Scarlet Cardstock, Pine Cardstock, Jade Cardstock and then the Home for Christmas Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet and the matching Mix-in Paper Packet (Sep–Oct)

Then I decided to do a double tag cut-out and pulled out French Vanilla Cardstock and cut it into 4 bits about 5 inches tall by 6 wide I think (or visa versa). I could have cut them smaller so I didn't waste as much but I wasn't sure when I cut them how much space I'd use to do this.  Then I folded them in half and used my Buildable Tags Thin Cuts and didn't cut the edges. Perhaps I should have done a small fold like a book fold, so more gap for the earrings to lay... but maybe for the next donation (she plans to make 10 sets and she's only made 4 so far). 

This is how I hung the tag over the edge of the fold line and then cut it so it became a little card double tag. Its hard to describe so I took a photo below. 

then I opened the tag up and cut the inside front rectangle hole. I tried to do two at once and it didn't really work so I didn't do that for the next 2... I didn't line them up very well. 

Oh well. some of them aren't that centred. 

I found an old retired stamp set called B1475 - Handmade - Flair (via Evernote) that had a stamp on it that says "made for you with love" in a circle so I stamped them using my Candy Apple Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and stuck them on the corner of the thin edge. I added an offcut triangle behind the circle to have more stability (as shown below). 

Next I cut a few 2.5 inch strips off the paper from the Home for Christmas, Mix in and cardstock. 

Next I cut them into half inch, 3 quarter inch and 1 inch strips randomly. I used both sides of some of the papers as shown and the cardstock as shown below. 

Next I stuck them randomly onto the paper mostly alternating between red and green (but not always). 

Next I punched the tiny hole in the top of the tags for the earrings. The hole punch is a Fiskars single hole punch at 1/16th size circle. I bought it specifically for making earring holders for gifting the earrings that my daughter creates. I wasn't very good at lining those up either. 

This is showing some of the strips of paper and the triangle behind the circle. I did need to trim some of the edges of the 2.5inch wide stips. I think they varied a little in where I cut the tag with the fold line. 

These weren't very easy to photograph. 

I put the earrings into the cards and stood them up but it looks like the paper is on a diagonal angle, but its just an optical allusion. Well done Miss A who is only 15yrs old to create all these earrings for people less fortunate than us. Proud Mumma Moment.

Colour Dare #520 - Tic-Tac-Toe Christmas Story Paperpack

This colour dare is designed around Christmas Story Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet. 

I decided to do the Diagonal Harbour, Silver & Scarlet. I had the new Freshly Baked—Scrapbooking Stamp + Thin Cuts and I really wanted to use the silver to create a baking wire cooling rack. I pulled out some of the retired Silver Foil paper and a scrap bit of it. I ran that thru my big shot and then stuck it on the Scarlet Cardstock. I ended up cutting it on the diagonal and sticking it on an angle onto the top of my card. (cutting this thru a trimmer was a tricky thing... it messed up a bit and I ended up cutting it smaller than originally intended. If you are going to cut this be careful and maybe cut from the back).

I used normal adhesive to stick the silver foil rack onto the Scarlet Cardstock but I ended up getting adhesive on the front but I figured it looked more realistic to how my own personal baking rack looks with all the cake stuck to it. 

As you can see from the picture of the Freshly Baked—Scrapbooking Stamp + Thin Cuts there are the cutest little cookies and an icing bag. I cut a few of the cookies and the piping back with White Daisy Cardstock and stamped them with Harbour Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad.

I ended up not using the cookies that I die-cut and stamped... I used the cookie heart stickers from the Freshly Baked Paper Packet Sticker Sheet. BUT... I did use the icing bag. From this stamp set I also used the stamp sentiment of the Cute Cookie but I only stamped on the cute cookie and masked off the one. I stamped that with Harbour ink directly onto the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack card directly. 

I finished off the card with a white 1 shape from Cricut to make the sentiment 1 cute cookie. Then I put the sticker cookies around the 1 and I embellished with the cute new Freshly Baked Dots... I think calling them dots is a bit misleading because they're the cutest stars, hearts and dots (this is the new way that dots are coming in the Annual catalogue. 

I was happy with how it finished off with those cute little hearts and dots in the Scarlet colour. I hope you like it too. I thought it would make a cute 1st birthday card.

Colour Dare #423 Traditional Christmas

I needed some quick Christmas cards to go out with my "Vandra's Online Card kits" for Jingle Joy this week. (see below). These are non-traditional cards so better belong in the category for Colour Dare Challenge for #424 which is the non-traditional colours challenge. Both of these challenges are running so make sure you enter both!

To make some quick cards I pulled out my Jingle Joy Die-cuts and some older style heart paper (black & White). I added some green ribbon from my stash to the die-cut Holly Jolly tag and used thin 3D foam tape to lift the tag so the ribbon sat flat (not raised up). 

The black and white heart paper is very similar to the Jingle Joy Paper Packet hearts but I had used most of this in my kits so did some stash busting and used an older style paper. You could recreate this card using jingle joy!

 

To finish off the card I cut out a Gnome for Christmas Stamp + Thin Cuts 

using my bigshot and had fun colouring him in with my Tri-blend markers, green, red and golden yellow for the star (and skin colour for the face). I'm still learning how to do the blending colouring but I was pretty happy with how he turned out. These Gnomes are so cool! I love the funny puns. 

My final card is simple, yet effective and a simple quick card is perfect when you need lots of cards fast! The Jingle Joy Die-cuts are perfect for quick, fast and effective cards.

Colour Dare #424 Non-Traditional Christmas Colours Challenge

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #424 is a non-traditional Christmas Colour Challenge. You are free to use Black, White, Neutrals, Gold & Silver too. You are invited to participate in this challenge. Firstly I pulled out the Mix-in Paper Packet (Nov–Dec) and selected the blue stripe with the blue stars on the back as my main paper for the non-traditional colour choices. 

Then I cut with my big shot and the thin cut and stamped a Gnome for Christmas gnome, and coloured it with Blue Triblend Marker, grey for the beard and skin colour for the skin. 

Then I cut the next thin cuts, Merry Christmas, Christmas bauble and star from the 

Jingle Joy—Scrapbooking stamp set and stamped them all in Sapphire Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. The Mix in paper matches the baubles perfectly. I coloured a little bit of blue to match in the gnome blue and the sapphire. 

To finish the card off, I adhered the backing, the gnome and the bauble with 

Tombow® Permanent Adhesive and then the Merry Christmas and the star were adhered with Thin 3-D Foam Tape.

Colour Dare #372 Tic-Tac-Toe Cedar and Pine

I chose the Candy Apple, Evergreen, and Gold side of the tic-tac-toe plus a little peach for skin colour. My green pen was a little light coloured and my colouring was terrible!

I used the Evergreen from the Cedar & Pine Cardmaking Workshop Kit. Shaker Window Foam & Acetate, Gold Glitter Paper, Shaker Window & Confetti Thin Cuts with the red & Green shaker bling (Holiday Loose Sequins). Then Gold Thread.

Colour Dare #370 Splash of Colour

With this colour challenge I thought it would be a great opportunity to make a more masculine card. I grabbed out my favourite new thin cuts Buttoned Up Thin Cuts. They have all the cutest things to make Santa's outfit but also bow ties, mens ties and the cute pocket. As well as belt buckles and a button to make all the shirts. So cute I HAD to get it when this catalogue came out. Only available for limited time in this current catalogue while stocks last. Great for Christmas but also great for the rest of the year too!

I grabbed out my my favourite browns = Kraft Paper, Almond Cardstock, Espresso Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. I cut the Kraft paper to 4.25 x 5.5 inches and put a slit in the top and cut the triangles out, then added them back in to be the collar. I cut a strip of almond cardstock 4.25 x 2 inches to be the top neckline as the white card base was too stark to leave without like a skin tone. I stamped with espresso ink. 

I used my stitched border thin cut to cut the stitches in the collar and cut out the thin cut pocket in kraft paper too. Then I used the Cedar & Pine Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet green paper for the tie. Its from the Christmas pack but I was going for a all year around style card. "Let's celebrate" was from one of the constant campaign stamps recently Birthday Joy CC61913. 

After I'd stuck it all down with Tombow® Permanent Adhesive and the tie with Thin 3-D Foam Tape I realised I needed the shirt to have a seem down the centre and if I'd thought about it before I had stuck it down I would have done the stitched border thin cut but I had to rule a line with pencil and draw a dashed line next to it.
