Colour Dare #572 Lucky 7 Home for Christmas

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #572 is a Lucky 7 challenge. You need to use 3 of the colours at least plus... you can also use Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #572 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I wanted to create some earring holders for some earrings that my daughter made to gift to a charity drive currently happening called It's in the Bag - by the charity called Share the Dignity. If you're in Australia please consider this. "It’s in the Bag is one of Australia’s most loved Christmas appeals, where we encourage everyday Australians to put together Adult, Teen or Mum and Bub bags filled with essential items, and maybe some everyday luxuries and a handwritten note, to donate to someone in need for Christmas."

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,

My daughter is making Earrings to put into the bags from the "optional luxury item list".

So I did a quick Pinterest check and found a few ideas for earring holders. I found this cool YouTube video via Pinterest called 3 DIY Earring Display Cards | Easy Jewelry Packaging Ideas | Handmade Gift I didn't use this person's idea specifically but I got some great ideas and decided to create a similar idea using products I had.

I pulled out all my coloured cardstock in the greens and reds - Candy Apple CardstockScarlet CardstockPine CardstockJade Cardstock and then the Home for Christmas Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet and the matching Mix-in Paper Packet (Sep–Oct)

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,

Then I decided to do a double tag cut-out and pulled out French Vanilla Cardstock and cut it into 4 bits about 5 inches tall by 6 wide I think (or visa versa). I could have cut them smaller so I didn't waste as much but I wasn't sure when I cut them how much space I'd use to do this.  Then I folded them in half and used my Buildable Tags Thin Cuts and didn't cut the edges. Perhaps I should have done a small fold like a book fold, so more gap for the earrings to lay... but maybe for the next donation (she plans to make 10 sets and she's only made 4 so far).
#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,

This is how I hung the tag over the edge of the fold line and then cut it so it became a little card double tag. Its hard to describe so I took a photo below.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,

then I opened the tag up and cut the inside front rectangle hole. I tried to do two at once and it didn't really work so I didn't do that for the next 2... I didn't line them up very well.
#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,
Oh well. some of them aren't that centred.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,
I found an old retired stamp set called B1475 - Handmade - Flair (via Evernote) that had a stamp on it that says "made for you with love" in a circle so I stamped them using my Candy Apple Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and stuck them on the corner of the thin edge. I added an offcut triangle behind the circle to have more stability (as shown below).

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,

Next I cut a few 2.5 inch strips off the paper from the Home for Christmas, Mix in and cardstock.
#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,
Next I cut them into half inch, 3 quarter inch and 1 inch strips randomly. I used both sides of some of the papers as shown and the cardstock as shown below.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,

Next I stuck them randomly onto the paper mostly alternating between red and green (but not always).

Next I punched the tiny hole in the top of the tags for the earrings. The hole punch is a Fiskars single hole punch at 1/16th size circle. I bought it specifically for making earring holders for gifting the earrings that my daughter creates. I wasn't very good at lining those up either.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,

This is showing some of the strips of paper and the triangle behind the circle. I did need to trim some of the edges of the 2.5inch wide stips. I think they varied a little in where I cut the tag with the fold line.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,

These weren't very easy to photograph.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhHomeforChristmas, Colour Dare Challenge, mix-in paper packet, thin cuts, Tags, Christmas, gifts, earrings, share the dignity, its in the bag, charity, kindness, Candy Apple, pine, Jade, Scarlet,

I put the earrings into the cards and stood them up but it looks like the paper is on a diagonal angle, but its just an optical allusion. Well done Miss A who is only 15yrs old to create all these earrings for people less fortunate than us. Proud Mumma Moment.

Colour Dare #570 - Four Square

#ctmhVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Journey, Glacier, Ballerina, mink, thank you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, Sponges, owls, painting with ink, cardmaking, Big Shot,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #570 is a Four Square challenge. You need to use 3 of the colours - Journey, Glacier, Mink and Ballerina Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #568 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I was looking for inspiration so I grabbed this weeks sketch challenge from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 546. Its perfect for a four colour challenge as there are four colours on the sketch.

#ctmhVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Journey, Glacier, Ballerina, mink, thank you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, Sponges, owls, painting with ink, cardmaking, Big Shot,

So I decided to grab out Journey CardstockGlacier CardstockMink Cardstock and
Ballerina Cardstock.

For the little dots shown on the sketch I decided to use Card Front Stencil Pack 2 which is for the centre's of the flowers but it makes great bubble splotches.

#ctmhVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Journey, Glacier, Ballerina, mink, thank you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, Sponges, owls, painting with ink, cardmaking, Big Shot,
I used  Ballerina Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad with my Blending Brushes. I went back and did more after I placed the cardstock on as I hadn't gone wide enough with the ballerina ink dots.
#ctmhVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Journey, Glacier, Ballerina, mink, thank you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, Sponges, owls, painting with ink, cardmaking, Big Shot,

I cut a strip 4 inches long by 3/4 inches wide in each of the cardstock colours and tore the edges to give that ruffled edge.

#ctmhVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Journey, Glacier, Ballerina, mink, thank you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, Sponges, owls, painting with ink, cardmaking, Big Shot,

Then I stamped the Owl from the cutest Stamp of the Month and the sentiment.

#ctmhVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Journey, Glacier, Ballerina, mink, thank you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, Sponges, owls, painting with ink, cardmaking, Big Shot,

I decided to paint with inks and my Medium Round Waterbrush

#ctmhVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Journey, Glacier, Ballerina, mink, thank you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, Sponges, owls, painting with ink, cardmaking, Big Shot,

To paint with my inks I either use the lid of the ink or like shown above drop it onto the

All-purpose Mat and paint from there.

Journey Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad was what I used to paint the owls hat trim and pompom and scarf, then Glacier Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad  for the owls eye and hatBallerina Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad for the beak and feet and the top of his head - then I painted over it and his body and face with Mink Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad.

#ctmhVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Journey, Glacier, Ballerina, mink, thank you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, Sponges, owls, painting with ink, cardmaking, Big Shot,

For the edges of my card I sponged with Ballerina ink and inked by running it along the ink pad plus the Thanks sentiment had the pink sponging and inked edges. I found a pre-embossed with brick wall look (retired folder) in mink cardstock card front and stuck that down. Then I put a retired twine in the criss-cross shape and stuck it all up on 3D foam tape.

Then I heat set my owl to dry it with my heat gun.

Then I cut him out with my big shot embossing/cutting machine.

#ctmhVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Journey, Glacier, Ballerina, mink, thank you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, Sponges, owls, painting with ink, cardmaking, Big Shot,

I stuck my owl on with 3D foam too. Its so cute!

Colour Dare #568 - Journey plus two

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #568 is a Colour of the Year challenge. You need to use Journey and then two other colours Plus....

Journey is the colour of the Year for Close to My Heart which I am very excited about its very similar to the colour of my car which is also my favourite colour. So when it first arrived I got excited and took lots of photos because it matched my finger nails too.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,
So when this challenge was announced in our Design Team Group I was excited. To start this card I pulled out all my Color of the Year Bundle

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,

I hadn't even opened my Journey Ink yet, I also pulled out my new

Royal Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad which hadn't been opened yet either. Then my 3rd colour Lagoon for this challenge.

I pulled out my stencils to start playing with the colours. I cut a white daisy card section at 5.5x2 and a 5.25x 4. I started with the Lagoon Ink because it was open and did the small section using the

Slimline Card Front Stencil Bundle leaf stencil. Lagoon is also lighter than Journey so I thought I would start with lighter colours and move darker with my Blending Brushes.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,
After I did the lagoon leaves I pulled out the 12x12 sized Stencil Bundle and found the stars. They have 4 sections that rotate to over lay each of them.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,

I started the stars with the lagoon ink as well and then did the overlay with Journey Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and one of the other corners of the stencil.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,
Then I used Royal Ink for one of the star stencil sections.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,
I didn't end up using the first panel I created but I have it ready for my next card.

After I'd finished the stars with the Lagoon, Journey, and Royal I decided I wanted to add the sentiment and thought I would add it on top but I really didn't want to cover up any of the stars so I pulled out my new stamp sets from the Essential Catalogue with Starter Sentiments Stamp Set and the Starter Alphabet Stamp Set and realised that I could fit the words in the spaces left by the star stencil. I wanted to make a birthday card for my mum who's birthday is the day this challenge goes live! I stamped each word in one of each of the colours for this challenge.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,

I had made a small smudge at the top near the big star so to finish off the panel I added

Journey Loose Sequins with Glue Dots®. I only used the darkest sequins that looked most similar to the cardstock.

I also inked the edges of the white daisy cardstock with Journey ink but you can't really tell.
To finish the card I added Journey Cardstock at the size of the card front - 4.25 x 5.5. Then added the white daisy panel with 3D foam tape.

Colour Dare #566 - Triple Play

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #566 is a Six Pack challenge. You need to use 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #566 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I pulled out my Desert Rose ink pad and my new stencils from the Card Front Stencil Bundle. I need to make some Thank you cards because my Mum was in hospital recently and she had some lovely nurses that looked after her so well we wanted to send thank yous.
#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,
I am having fun playing with stencils.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,

I cut a peice of White Daisy Cardstock cardstock at the same size as a card front 5.5x4.25 inches, and its the perfect size for card fronts. Then I grabbed some old washi tape and taped it down to my All-purpose Mat

Then I inked it up with Desert Rose Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and a Blending Brush

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,

To bring in the other colours of the Colour Dare Triple play I decided to add a circle from the
Small Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts. I cut the backing circle from Sundance Cardstock  in the light side and the mini circle frame from Rosemary Cardstock dark side.

It looked a little odd against the Desert Rose stencilling until I decided to add some more Rosemary Cardstock to the top and bottom of the white base card. I cut originally at 0.25 inches and it was too wide so I did a 3/8th wide strip and it was perfect.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,

On the Sundance circle I stamped the Hearts in Desert Rose Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad with the new gorgeous stamp set Your Smile Stamp Set

• With every purchase of this stamp set, $7 USD are donated to the life saving mission of Operation Smile™. Operation Smile™ is a non-profit organisation that provides surgeries to repair cleft lips and palates in children around the world.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,

Over the top of the hearts I stamped in Black ink the Thank you from the current Stamp of the Month Thoughtful Tokens—September Stamp of the Month. It has a cute little Thank You that fits perfectly. I possibly should have waited longer for the desert rose to dry before stamping the black (or use intense black) because it did bleed a little. I didn't re-do it because it did stand out well and I thought that worked okay.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,

After adhering it all down I stuck the card front to a card from White Cards & Envelopes Value PackAfter editing this photo I realised some of the adhesive was showing on the circle so I went back with my Rub & Remove™ Eraser and removed the adhesive easily.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,
