Colour Dare #570 - Four Square

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #570 is a Four Square challenge. You need to use 3 of the colours - Journey, Glacier, Mink and Ballerina Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. I was looking for inspiration so I grabbed this weeks sketch challenge from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 546. Its perfect for a four colour challenge as there are four colours on the sketch. 

So I decided to grab out Journey Cardstock, Glacier Cardstock, Mink Cardstock and 

Ballerina Cardstock. 

For the little dots shown on the sketch I decided to use Card Front Stencil Pack 2 which is for the centre's of the flowers but it makes great bubble splotches. 

I used  Ballerina Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad with my Blending Brushes. I went back and did more after I placed the cardstock on as I hadn't gone wide enough with the ballerina ink dots. 

I cut a strip 4 inches long by 3/4 inches wide in each of the cardstock colours and tore the edges to give that ruffled edge. 

Then I stamped the Owl from the cutest Stamp of the Month and the sentiment.

I decided to paint with inks and my Medium Round Waterbrush

To paint with my inks I either use the lid of the ink or like shown above drop it onto the 

All-purpose Mat and paint from there. 

Journey Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad was what I used to paint the owls hat trim and pompom and scarf, then Glacier Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad  for the owls eye and hat, Ballerina Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad for the beak and feet and the top of his head - then I painted over it and his body and face with Mink Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad.

For the edges of my card I sponged with Ballerina ink and inked by running it along the ink pad plus the Thanks sentiment had the pink sponging and inked edges. I found a pre-embossed with brick wall look (retired folder) in mink cardstock card front and stuck that down. Then I put a retired twine in the criss-cross shape and stuck it all up on 3D foam tape. 

Then I heat set my owl to dry it with my heat gun. 

Then I cut him out with my big shot embossing/cutting machine. 

I stuck my owl on with 3D foam too. Its so cute!

Colour Dare #550 Six Pack

 

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #550 is a 6 pack of colours (You need to use 3 of the colours at least). Plus.... I chose Ballerina because I had this gorgeous Ballerina Marble paper in the Friendly Borders Cardmaking Workshop Kit (available for MAY 2023 only) and the paper is also available in the Dream Maker Product Bundle. This is only available for a limited time for National Scrapbooking Day. Until 30th June while stocks last. So if you love this paper as much as I do, please order it quickly to avoid disappointment.  

I also chose Melon & Sage cardstock because the paper was on my desk :) How all good decisions are made... what's closest to hand gets chosen. 

After I had my chosen papers I thought lets create a card... I found the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge for this week and decided to create with my colours. I wanted the background to be the Ballerina Marble paper as its the prettiest. 

To get my circle I cut the Happy Birthday Shaker Window Thin Cuts with Sage Cardstock (Darker side of the paper) then cut a white cardstock circle with Circles Thin Cuts. I adhered them together before I cut the circle edge off. 

To get the banner I cut a scrap of  Melon Cardstock and stamped on it in 

Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. I also cut out the Happy letters from my Slimline Alphabet thin cuts (only the 1,2,3s are available now the alphabet have retired... Slim Numbers Thin Cuts.) The letters were so thin I used my tiny adhesive Quickie Glue™ Pen. 

To finish it off I added 3 little Melon Flowers.

Colour Dare #464 Wild Berry, Ballerina and Nectarine

For Colour Dare Challenge #458 I made a 90th Birthday card for a gentleman who's like family and this month his wife also turned 90 so I needed to make another 90th card. I took the Design Space file I created in that challenge and tweeked it to make it more feminine. See my post #458 for that design space file.  

For this project, I used the Wild Berry Cardstock as the base, Ballerina Cardstock as the cover and Nectarine Cardstock as the flower centres. I then used White Daisy cardstock to cut a centre section to write on. You could write directly onto the Wild Berry but easier to read in white.  I did trim the white a little at the top to fit nicer into the inside of the 90 so that the card sat flatter.

Note: The flowers are from the Cricut® Flower Market Digital Collection so you will need that before you can open my free Cricut file. If you already have it you should be able to open no problems, if you need it you can purchase from my website or your CTMH Makers website. 

After I'd cut all the peices I decided the ballerina peice was too flat and I wanted to give it dimension so I grabbed out my Ballerina Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and stamped Birthday all over it in a random pattern. My ink pad looks like it needs a refill as the whole pad isn't juicy but I liked how the mottled look was for this stamp, I thought it created extra dimension... so I wasn't overly concerned, but I will need to grab some Ballerina re-inker. Ballerina is a favourite in our house. 

The stampset is called For All Occasions and it has lots of great sentiments. 

Before I stuck the flowers onto the card I used my thumb nail to curve the petals upwards to create some more dimension. The card was to be posted so it might get flattened but I was hoping it stayed dimensional. 

Super happy with this colour arrangement for my card. You can get a selection of those colours in the Boo Crew Coordinating Cardstock pack or you can create your own cardstock pack with a Custom Cardstock Pack--12 Sheet or a Custom Cardstock Pack—24 Sheet. This means you can get a selection of coloured cardstock of your choice. Minimum quantity of 2 sheets per colour.
