Colour Dare #566 - Triple Play

  

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #566 is a Six Pack challenge. You need to use 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... I pulled out my Desert Rose ink pad and my new stencils from the Card Front Stencil Bundle. I need to make some Thank you cards because my Mum was in hospital recently and she had some lovely nurses that looked after her so well we wanted to send thank yous. 

I am having fun playing with stencils. 

I cut a peice of White Daisy Cardstock cardstock at the same size as a card front 5.5x4.25 inches, and its the perfect size for card fronts. Then I grabbed some old washi tape and taped it down to my All-purpose Mat. 

Then I inked it up with Desert Rose Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and a Blending Brush. 

To bring in the other colours of the Colour Dare Triple play I decided to add a circle from the 

Small Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts. I cut the backing circle from Sundance Cardstock  in the light side and the mini circle frame from Rosemary Cardstock dark side. 

It looked a little odd against the Desert Rose stencilling until I decided to add some more Rosemary Cardstock to the top and bottom of the white base card. I cut originally at 0.25 inches and it was too wide so I did a 3/8th wide strip and it was perfect. 

On the Sundance circle I stamped the Hearts in Desert Rose Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad with the new gorgeous stamp set Your Smile Stamp Set

Over the top of the hearts I stamped in Black ink the Thank you from the current Stamp of the Month Thoughtful Tokens—September Stamp of the Month. It has a cute little Thank You that fits perfectly. I possibly should have waited longer for the desert rose to dry before stamping the black (or use intense black) because it did bleed a little. I didn't re-do it because it did stand out well and I thought that worked okay. 

After adhering it all down I stuck the card front to a card from White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack. After editing this photo I realised some of the adhesive was showing on the circle so I went back with my Rub & Remove™ Eraser and removed the adhesive easily.

Colour Dare #551 Triple Play

To start this challenge I pulled out my Grape Cardstock, Bluebird Cardstock & Nectarine Cardstock (I didn't end up using the grape and nectarine cardstock). To match I pulled out my distress oxides and found the closest I had were Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide™ Ink Pad and a retired Seedless Preserves which was as close to Grape as I had. The currently available Villainous Potion Distress Oxide™ Ink Pad is a bit too dark.

I also pulled out Storybook—Scrapbooking Stamp Set (I also have the matching thin cuts but they're sold out now). I also pulled out the Storybook Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet

to use the black and white cartoon storybook characters paper. 

I wanted to put the cute dragon on the front of my card and to colour the dragon with the distressed oxides. I decided to trial a few different ways to use the distress oxides to blend. 

Using White Daisy Cardstock first I cut a dragon with the thin cut, second I stamped directly onto the cardstock and third I blended the ink directly first. 

I blended the first thin cut one, then blended over the top of the stamped image on the 2nd one. 

Lastly I stamped the top of the thin cut (but my stamping wasn't very straight and I didn't love it). The 2nd one with the blending over the top was muted but I still cut it out with the thin cut. I prefer this method because I am not good at lining up. 

My favourite turned out to be the last one (bottom in the picture) I did which was the one I had sponged and blended PRIOR to stamping and thin cutting the die shape out. 

To compile the card I used Bluebird Cardstock 4x 5.25 inches, just under that I cut some Black Cardstock The black and white cartoon like paper. I stamped the make a wish sentiment with 

Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad from stamp set Meowgical Stamp + Thin Cuts. 

I stamped it on white daisy cardstock, backed in black scrap cardstock and bluebird cardstock scraps, I didn't measure them I just used my scrap bits. 

Finished off by adhering it all down with Air Touch Adhesive and the Dragon with 3-D Foam Tape.

Colour Dare #544 - Triple Play

I started with the Sweet Tweets—April Stamp of the Month because I thought it would be great as a paper pieced with Peach Cardstock, Harbour Cardstock, and Rosemary Cardstock. I stamped the middle bird on each of the colours with Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and fussy cut them out. I decided it looked like a Robin Red breast so thought I would make that part the Peach colour.

I thought perhaps I could darken the edges of the "breast" and beak so I used the 

Blending Brushes with Peach Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad... but it didn't really turn out how I wanted. Due to that I didn't bother to blend any ink on the other paper pieced parts.

I also stamped the centre bird onto a white cardstock piece 2.75 x 2.75 inches and then layered the peach cardstock and Rosemeary cardstock on top. Then I matted the whole square with a 3 inch x 3 inch square of Harbour cardstock. I had done the square and then thought... What am I going to do with a 3 inch square so I looked up Pinterest and found an idea...

The part I liked was the folded corner. So I folded down the corner of a White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack. On the underneath base I used Peach cardstock. I cut the corner of the 5.5x4.25 inch full bit of peach cardstock. Later I ended up attaching the peach corner back on underneath the cutout section but I flipped it over for the darker side to be showing. 

I also stamped the border footprints on the edge of that peach card in Black Ink and stamped the Birthday Wishes sentiment onto a white scrap. I then matted the scrap in dark side of peach, then harbour (light side) then Harbour, to finish it off. 

I am finding it hard to photograph peach because outside it looked very pink and inside it looked orange... trust me its Peach cardstock and peach ink.

Colour Dare #506 Sunset Inspiration Photo

I saw the Inspiration photo and knew it was a perfect opportunity for Distress oxide blending. I pulled out Mustard Seed Distress Oxide™ Ink Pad for the yellow, Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide™ Ink Pad and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide™ Ink Pad. I blended them with my Mini Ink Blending Tool.

I did two while I had the cardstock out. I did one on an angle first and then the second one I did horizontal. The tiny piece was to wipe off the sponges so I didn't get as much on their packaging (I store my Mini Ink Blending Foam under the oxide inks with 2" × 2" Flip Flaps™ Memory Protectors™) 

Then I flicked water from my water sprayer and the bigger ones from my Medium Round Waterbrush. I love this look from distress oxides and how they react to water. 

I stamped the super cute sloths from the Take It Easy stamp set. I didn't get the thin cuts (they were sold out by the time I ordered it and I thought "I won't need it" and then I had to fussy cut the sloths out and thought I should have ordered it). I stamped them on White Daisy Cardstock with black ink and thought about colouring them but thought the background which is the hero would stand out better with them just black and white. 

I matted the 4x5.25 inch White Daisy Cardstock that I distress oxided (is that a verb?)... with 

Black Cardstock 1/8th bigger. I did the title directly on one card and one on white cardstock with the black cardstock backing. 

I had two people in mind for these cards so they'll be going out ASAP.

Colour Dare #454 Inspiration photo 3 colours

I decided I wanted to recreated the look of the bird so I pulled out my distress oxide inks. Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide™ Ink Pad, Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide™ Ink Pad, Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide™ Ink Pad, Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide™ Ink Pad & Peacock Feathers Distress™ Oxide Ink Pad. I blended them together with my Mini Ink Blending tools. 

I thought the inks looked like the bird. 

After I had blended them on White Daisy Cardstock I sprinkled water onto the ink to get the spots. 

Then I used my heat gun tool to dry it completly before running it through the BigShot with the new and gorgeous Butterfly Background Thin Cuts.

I stamped the sentiment from the Wander—Cardmaking & thin cut set with Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad on White Daisy Cardstock. 

Then I cut another butterfly background thin cut with White Daisy Cardstock.
