Colour Dare #550 Six Pack

 

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #550 is a 6 pack of colours (You need to use 3 of the colours at least). Plus.... I chose Ballerina because I had this gorgeous Ballerina Marble paper in the Friendly Borders Cardmaking Workshop Kit (available for MAY 2023 only) and the paper is also available in the Dream Maker Product Bundle. This is only available for a limited time for National Scrapbooking Day. Until 30th June while stocks last. I also chose Melon & Sage cardstock because the paper was on my desk :) How all good decisions are made... what's closest to hand gets chosen. 

After I had my chosen papers I thought lets create a card... I found the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge for this week and decided to create with my colours. I wanted the background to be the Ballerina Marble paper as its the prettiest. 

To get my circle I cut the Happy Birthday Shaker Window Thin Cuts with Sage Cardstock (Darker side of the paper) then cut a white cardstock circle with Circles Thin Cuts. I adhered them together before I cut the circle edge off. 

To get the banner I cut a scrap of  Melon Cardstock and stamped on it in 

Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. I also cut out the Happy letters from my Slimline Alphabet thin cuts (only the 1,2,3s are available now the alphabet have retired... Slim Numbers Thin Cuts.) The letters were so thin I used my tiny adhesive Quickie Glue™ Pen. 

To finish it off I added 3 little Melon Flowers.

Colour Dare #548 Pewter plus one

I checked out the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge that is happening right now and its Sketch 524, so I decided to use Pewter, Sundance and this Sketch. 

Firstly I pulled out my Pewter Cardstock, Pewter Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and 

Sundance Cardstock (Sundance marble paper from Friendly Borders Cardmaking Workshop Kit) and I pulled out all my scraps. In my scrap container I had some already embossed with an old hexagon embossing folder. Yay for texture. The lighter side of the sundance is represented below too, it looks more yellow than the dark side. 

Then because of the sketch and not using multiple colours as shown in the sketch I wanted to differentiate the banners, so I pulled out my Background Elements Stamp Set. 

I decided to use the pewter ink and different background elements from the stamp set on each of the plain cardstock banners. 

I cut a 1.5 inch strip off the sundance marble paper for the top 5.5 inches wide. Then cut parts off that for some banners in varying wides and lengths... I couldn't tell you what the dimensions are because I grabbed my scraps and some I cut what i thought was right and then cut it down when adhering it to the card base. 

I cut a narrow strip of the pewter cardstock, also a scrap so no idea the dimensions. I cut each of the banner piece but I forgot to photograph before I started stamping but you can get the idea in the pic below I did remember to take in progress. 

After I had stamped all the plain cardstock (light and dark sides) with different background elements from the stamp set with Pewter ink, I decided the hexagon embossing wasn't clear enough so I used a wedge of Round Sponge and sponged some ink across it. I also decided that one of the marble bits needed some definition so I inked the edges of it with the pewter ink.

Then I stamped the "Thank you, thank you, thank you" stamp from this set in Pewter ink directly onto the marble cardstock and the most annoying thing happened. A tiny sliver of cardstock was lying on the paper and it meant the y in the second thank you didn't work. I did all sorts to try fix it. First pic below shows me attemping to stamp just the y (I masked the other bits but the O was also involved and the y looked silly... Then I masked off to get a bit on white cardstock (2nd pic below) and that looked Terrible too. 

Then I decided to cover it with a bit of Sundance Cardstock. The worst nightmare of stamping directly onto artwork. 

I was happy with how it turned out. To finish it off, as per the sketch I used some old grey embellishments which are similar to the current Grey Dots.

Colour Dare #444 Tic Tac Toe - You are Enough

I LOVE this You are Enough special for National Scrapbooking Month. The colours of the papers including Rose Gold are so stunning but hard to photograph. 

To make my card I pulled out the Make It from Your Heart Volume 5. The pattern called for 1.25 inch blocks in Sangria Cardstock so I added a slightly smaller block of the glacier and rose gold hexagon paper from the You Are Enough Product Bundle. 

Did the stamping in Black ink on white daisy cardstock and matted again on Sangria cardstock. Finished off the card with the stickers of the branches from the sticker sheet and to make them stick up a little I put Anti-static Pouch on half of the branch. The Congratulations stamp is an old retired stamp set and I used thin 3D foam tape to have a bit of dimension on the title.

Colour Dare #400 Purple Blue Green

The Colour Dare Challenge is up to special number #400.  To enter into this challenge you need to use shades of Purple, Blue and Green in your entry. Plus Black, White and grey neutrals are free to use. You are invited to participate in this challenge too. This is a milestone so some of the design team members are working out what their first Colour Dare Challenge blog post was. My first challenge as a design team member was number #309 on 7 September 2018. Let us know when you first entered Colour Dare challenges - it might be today! 

For this artwork I pulled out a selection of purple, blue and green inks and some green and purple and blue cardstocks and cut Stitched Circles Thin Cuts and Basic Circles Thin Cuts.

I've been wanting to make magnets for all the members of our Bulk Buying group for ages - we buy in bulk as a group to get discounts on items that are usually expensive; to save postage, to help the environment, to save money, get bulk buying powers and healthier items (like free-range, organic, etc). We buy Who Gives a Crap Toilet paper to get a discount on the packs of 10 to save postage, get the bigger discount and save fuel for the delivery driver. We survived the TP crisis that happened a few months ago in Australia - I'm not sure we are over all the restrictions on toilet paper yet but I wanted to acknowledge that our group were #survivors.

I used an old real-estate magnet from 2018 and cut it into enough pieces for every circle to have a magnet. I checked that it was enough magnet to hold up the circles, I didn't want it falling off the fridge. Some had extra backing some were just the smaller circle. I did a selection of colours (see list below).

Colour Dare #394 Shades of Green

I love the Green challenge so pulled out some old Central Park paper that I've been trying to "scrap my stash" and use up. Then some Clover Cardstock

that you can get on sale this month in the Green Cardstock Bundle. 

I HAD to use the new "Toilet paper" stamp set from the National Scrapbooking Day Cardmaking Bundle 1. its my very favourite stamp set and from the National Scrapbooking Day event held by Close to My Heart this stamp set is THE MOST POPULAR stamp set in the history of CTMH! I really love this! I love that we can make light of the darkness that is the current Global Pandemic! 

Its awesome that Close to My Heart Cardstock is double sided. So I stamped on the Clover Cardstock with Evergreen Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad on each side of the paper and cut it out with Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors. 

Then I stamped in Clover Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad for the circle and cut it out with the Stitched Circles Thin Cuts. 

To stamp the title I stamped on French Vanilla Cardstock, 

using three colours of inks - First totally stamped with Green Apple Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad, secondly I stamped about half of the green apple covered sentiment with Clover Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad  and lastly along the very bottom  I stamped with Evergreen Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. All three shades on the one stamp. I watched a video on the CTMH Facebook page that demonstrated it recently and I did know this technique, but I haven't done it for so long I thought it was a good time to trial it again with this Colour Dare Challenge. 

I stamped the three green inks of the small heart - one in each colour in the gradient (in the corresponding locations, dark bottom, Clover middle and lighter top). Then I trimmed the paper to the size I wanted freehand and used my scissors to cut a toilet paper like edge on it. 

I used varying thicknesses of 3-D Foam Tape and Thin 3-D Foam Tape. 

This made three heights for the three elements. I followed the rule of threes with the heart stamps, the cluster of toilet paper embellishments and I finished off with 3 of the clear opaque looking hearts from the Julep Loose Sequins. 

I didn't have any bright green ribbons or twines so I was stuck for embellishments on this one. I thought black would be too dark as the darkest colour on this card is Evergreen!

I didn't want to use the cardstock that came with this set cause I had old green to use first but you could totally recreate this card using the lovely embossed papers of this kit. Also I've seen a lot of people emboss their toilet paper and I want to give that a try too but my embossing folders were packed away under a box.
