Colour Dare #560 - Fancy Five

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #560 is a Fancy Five. You need to use at least 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #560 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I chose the colours Melon, Sage & Harbour from the Famous 5. Then for this colour dare challenge I decided I wanted to use Laura Beecham's latest technique using sequins stuck onto Adhesive paper. Find Laura's video on Facebook here and on YouTube here

My daughter got excited at this technique and wanted to be involved too. I pulled out all my Close to my Heart sequins and let her have a go, she mixed a few sets to get her colours (but we haven't used her's to make anything yet). She was using my Pick-up Tool and my retired Close to My Heart tweezers but she really loves the pick-up tool for this.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

I used the silver sequins I had left but they're retired now (you can still get lots of other colours including Gold Loose Sequins).

My daughter after seeing Laura's idea decided to use one of the squares to stick the extra left over "beads" from her glass painting. Every glass painting artwork has HEAPS of leftovers.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

She used the special tool that comes with those artwork kits. Some of her full sized art peices are shown below. We haven't made a card using her blingy bits yet but she has HEAPS of them.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,
Okay getting back to my artwork. I stamped and cut the the flower cluster from the Cosette—Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts

I stamped with Memento Ink from my stash which is similar to Intense Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad or Archival Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. You need to use a good water-stable ink such as these 3 listed above so you can water colour paint them and they wont bleed the black ink.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

I used Sage Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and Melon Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad to paint the leaves and flowers respectively.

I used my Medium Round Waterbrush to paint by putting ink into the lid (by squeezing the lid onto the pad while its closed). Making sure to clean off the water mess on the lid before closing again so the ink doesn't get watered down on the stamp pad.

I used Harbour Cardstock and cut it at 4 x 5.25 inches as the backing and stuck the adhesive sheet with sequins on it behind (as per Laura's technique). Then I used a 3.75x 5 inch Sage Cardstock and cut a circle with the Circles Thin Cuts. Then in Harbour cardstock I cut the frame from the Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts.
#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

I put the sage cardstock up with 3-D Foam Tape. To finish it off, I added the painted flowers thin cut shape. Plus the title with Harbour Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad Stamped on Sage cardstock, then matted with White Daisy cardstock and double matted with Harbour cardstock. I used Melon Dots to the centres of the flowers and a few around the card.

I love how blingy this technique is and how special it makes the card look. Its also easy and fast. THANK YOU LAURA!!!!!!

Colour Dare #555 - Four Square

#CTMHVandra,Colour dare, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, sketch, Candy Apple, sapphire, sage, Butterflies, butterfly, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, birthday card, celebrate,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #555 is a Four Square (You need to use at least 3 of the colours from the above picture). Plus.... Black, white, neutral and metallics free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #555 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I Chose my colours Sapphire, Candy Apple and Sage and pulled out my cardstock and inks in those colours. Then I decided I needed more creative inspiration so I checked out the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and found their latest sketch 531. Click here to get to the Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge page

Look below for the sketch. I picked some main elements like the frame, the diagonal lines on the top half. The banner in the middle and the 3 design elements with tails (balloons) but I decided to change them up with butterflies. The Sentiment with a larger and then smaller on the banner. These are the elements I chose to follow from the sketch as best I could.

#CTMHVandra,Colour dare, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, sketch, Candy Apple, sapphire, sage, Butterflies, butterfly, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, birthday card, celebrate,

I pulled out my White Daisy Cardstock and cut half of it with Stitched Lattice Background Thin Cuts but it didn't have the diagonal lines so I cut Sapphire Cardstock in very thin strips (like one 8th maybe) and I stuck them on between the little flowers. I backed the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack card with Sapphire Cardstock 5.5 x 4.25 inches.

#CTMHVandra,Colour dare, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, sketch, Candy Apple, sapphire, sage, Butterflies, butterfly, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, birthday card, celebrate,

I created a little frame for the bottom of the card by getting a piece of white daisy cardstock at 4 inches wide and about 3 inches high... I cut about a frame about the 8th of an inch wide too on 3 sides and stuck it up under the diagonal stripes part. To cover the edge I used the banner.

I grabbed my scraps of Sage Cardstock and cut a piece that was 4.25 wide with my scissors into a banner on both edges. I adhered the banner and then trimmed the sides of top where it stuck out from the banner. Then I Stamped in Sapphire Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad from two stamp sets the Celebrate from For All Occasions Stamp Set and the HAPPY BIRTHDAY from the You Deserve It All Stamp + Thin Cuts.

#CTMHVandra,Colour dare, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, sketch, Candy Apple, sapphire, sage, Butterflies, butterfly, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, birthday card, celebrate,

For my 3 balloon images I used the small Butterfly thin cut from Layered Butterflies Thin Cuts. I cut them in White Daisy Cardstock and used my Round Sponge (cut into wedges) to sponge Candy Apple Exclusive Inks™ onto the butterflies. The first one was very wet ink so it turned out a lot darker... after the first one I used a lighter hand but I did like that they have variations in their colours.

I drew with my Black LePen™ some lines for the butterflies but I kind of covered them up. The dark red butterfly and the top lighter one were stuck with Air Touch Adhesive and the bottom butterfly was adhered with 3-D Foam Tape for that added dimension.

Colour Dare #550 Six Pack

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, happy birthday, thin cuts, alphabet, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, melon, National Scrapbooking Month, marble, Ballerina, sage, sketch, cardmaking, circles, embellishments, flowers,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #550 is a 6 pack of colours (You need to use 3 of the colours at least). Plus.... Black, white, neutral and metallics free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. I chose Ballerina because I had this gorgeous Ballerina Marble paper in the Friendly Borders Cardmaking Workshop Kit (available for MAY 2023 only) and the paper is also available in the Dream Maker Product Bundle. This is only available for a limited time for National Scrapbooking Day. Until 30th June while stocks last. So if you love this paper as much as I do, please order it quickly to avoid disappointment.

I also chose Melon & Sage cardstock because the paper was on my desk :) How all good decisions are made... what's closest to hand gets chosen.

After I had my chosen papers I thought lets create a card... I found the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge for this week and decided to create with my colours. I wanted the background to be the Ballerina Marble paper as its the prettiest.
#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, happy birthday, thin cuts, alphabet, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, melon, National Scrapbooking Month, marble, Ballerina, sage, sketch, cardmaking, circles, embellishments, flowers,

To get my circle I cut the Happy Birthday Shaker Window Thin Cuts with Sage Cardstock (Darker side of the paper) then cut a white cardstock circle with Circles Thin Cuts. I adhered them together before I cut the circle edge off.

To get the banner I cut a scrap of  Melon Cardstock and stamped on it in
Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. I also cut out the Happy letters from my Slimline Alphabet thin cuts (only the 1,2,3s are available now the alphabet have retired... Slim Numbers Thin Cuts.) The letters were so thin I used my tiny adhesive Quickie Glue™ Pen.

To finish it off I added 3 little Melon Flowers

Colour Dare #538 Four Square

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, Random Stamping, flowers, floral, melon, periwinkle, sage, Glacier, leaves, butterfly, Sympathy, cardmaking, thin cuts, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, D2122,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #538 is a Four Square Board. You need to choose at least 3 colours from the above photo. You are also free to use all Neutrals and Metallics. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #538 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

So to start I pulled out all my ink colours in the Four Square Glacier Stamp PadSage Stamp PadPeriwinkle Stamp PadMelon Stamp Pad. But then where to start... I checked and found Atlantic Heart Sketch Challenge because I've been doing them a lot lately so decided I did want to do a card based on the current week's Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 514 so I based my card of this sketch.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, Random Stamping, flowers, floral, melon, periwinkle, sage, Glacier, leaves, butterfly, Sympathy, cardmaking, thin cuts, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, D2122,

I decided to use the Layered Butterflies Thin Cuts shape to replace the oval shape (rotated to be a horizontal card). I have been using these butterflies for heaps lately (I'm stuck on butterflies at the moment) also I've been inspired by Laura Beacham a sister CTMH consultant who's done some lovely things with butterfly thin cut lately too. I cut a tiny butterfly out using Glacier Cardstock and out of a 4.25x5.5 inch piece of Sage Cardstock (dark side) I cut a big butterfly. (note: I cut one shown in the first pic and then made an error with attempting to put a black edge with a pen around the edge of the shape so I cut a second one in a different butterfly shape as shown in second picture - one with antennae and one without.... I didn't attempt the black pen edge on the second time - I was putting the black pen inside to make the edge stand out... the tiny parts around the butterflies antennae and head are very fiddly and it didn't work out).
#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, Random Stamping, flowers, floral, melon, periwinkle, sage, Glacier, leaves, butterfly, Sympathy, cardmaking, thin cuts, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, D2122,

Anyway I then decided to use the Floral Sentiments Stamp Set to randomly stamp on a piece of White Daisy Cardstock about 5x4 inches (it was a scrap) that I had roughly used a pencil to show approximately where the butterfly was to go so I had a rough idea of how much stamping I needed.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, Random Stamping, flowers, floral, melon, periwinkle, sage, Glacier, leaves, butterfly, Sympathy, cardmaking, thin cuts, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, D2122,
I love this stamp set and have used it lots recently too. This month its ON SALE!!

Also originally I wasn't going to use Sage ink because I had used Sage Cardstock BUT... I ended up doing a few leaves in sage ink so later photos I included all 4 ink pads.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, Random Stamping, flowers, floral, melon, periwinkle, sage, Glacier, leaves, butterfly, Sympathy, cardmaking, thin cuts, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, D2122,

When I had finished my random stamping with the 4 ink colours, I rubbed out the pencil lines and adhered the Sage cuttout to the white daisy cardstock stamped base with 3-D Foam Tape. I couldn't go right down next to the butterfly's head even though I did cut my 3D Foam tape very thin and got it in quite close (same at the bottom, I got it as close as I could to those tiny parts).

Then I adhered the whole lot onto the base White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack with Air Touch Adhesive.

I had made some White Daisy Cardstock circles on my cricut and had them left over (after my daughters birthday party) so used a circle to stamp the sentiment onto in Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and then added the small glacier butterfly to it with some Thin 3D Foam Tape. It sort of has a snowman shape with big circle at the bottom and smaller butterfly above... Its is very loosely based on the Sketch.

I finished it off with a heart from the Melon Dots.

Colour Dare #531 Tic-Tac-Toe

#CTMHVandra, #ctmh, #ctmhBackyardBliss, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, peach, papaya, sage, thank you, thin cuts, doily, flowers, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, leaves, cardmaking,

I'm not on the design team for Colour Dare this week (I do even challenges) but I really liked this colour selection of Colour Dare Challenge for #531 so I wanted to make a card using these colours. I chose the top row, Papaya, Peach & Sage AND I wanted to join the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Sketch 508. So two birds with one stone and I'm really happy with what I came up with.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmh, #ctmhBackyardBliss, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, peach, papaya, sage, thank you, thin cuts, doily, flowers, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, leaves, cardmaking,

If you wanna play along too go to Colour Dare Challenge for #531 is a Tic-Tac-Toe (see above) and all Neutrals and Metallic are free
Go to the link for Colour Dare #531 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I pulled out my Backyard Bliss Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet and it said the colour there was Papaya so I assumed the leaf patterned sheet was papaya based but I also used some Papaya Glitter Paper to really make sure I was covered (cause it kind of looked peach although peach doesn't feature in that paper pack). The leaf paper was cut at 5 inchs x 3.75 inches.
#CTMHVandra, #ctmh, #ctmhBackyardBliss, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, peach, papaya, sage, thank you, thin cuts, doily, flowers, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, leaves, cardmaking,

I cut the background Peach Cardstock on the darker side at 5.25 inches x 4 inches. I also cut the Thank in Peach Cardstock from For You Thin Cuts.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmh, #ctmhBackyardBliss, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, peach, papaya, sage, thank you, thin cuts, doily, flowers, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, leaves, cardmaking,
I showed this picture on my Instagram this week because I was so excited to realise you can cut this as a two for one. After I cut the white daisy as shown in the picture I cut the same size piece from  Papaya Glitter Paper so I didn't waste a scrap of my more expensive and pretty glitter paper. I used only the YOU on this card and have there Thank and the negative space to use on another few cards.
#CTMHVandra, #ctmh, #ctmhBackyardBliss, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, peach, papaya, sage, thank you, thin cuts, doily, flowers, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, leaves, cardmaking,
There are other options instead of Thank... you can say Love YOU, For YOU or Thank YOU or you could even say "love for YOU!"

The next main feature of the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge was the Doily shape so I pulled out my Fancy Doilies Thin Cuts and I did have a peach shape already cut in the large size but it was too big for the regular card size so I didn't want to use the big one as I wouldn't be able to use other other features. So I cut the small doily in Sage Cardstock and kept my big peach one for another day. TIP: If you cut more than one thin cut (die-cut) at a time, slide them into the envelope of the stamp or thin cut and then when you go to use that item next time you might save yourself some time by having something pre-cut. AND it doesn't take much more time to run thru 2 at the same time or two layers of cardstock (although the doily is very intricate so it may not cut 2 together very well).

#CTMHVandra, #ctmh, #ctmhBackyardBliss, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, peach, papaya, sage, thank you, thin cuts, doily, flowers, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, leaves, cardmaking,

After I stuck my doily on I drew my lines... I wanted them freehand and I started with a

White Gel Pen but it wasn't clear enough to see (You can see remnants of it on the card still) so I added Black LePen™ freehand over the top. Its messy but its meant to be.

I stuck my YOU in Papaya glitter down first with Air Touch Adhesive and then layered the thank over the top.

Then I went to my Embellishments/stickers/complements etc that I have sorted and pulled out my flowers zip lock. I pulled out the neutrals and the peach/papaya colours. I don't know which sets those 3 flowers come from but 3 different ones I think. And one of the "flowers" is really a doily which I think added more to the sketch. I found a white leaf stalk die-cut in my leaf zip lock bag and cut its 3 branches off and added them in 3 spots around the flowers sort of underneath. The smallest peach looking flower with grey leaves (that look sage in the photo) I took off the adhesive on the back of the sticker and then added 3-D Foam Tape to add dimension.

Then 5 Bitty Sparkles to finish off the card (2 in the centres of the flowers) and 3 around the bottom.

Thanks for the great Sketch Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge I enjoyed this a lot!
