Colour Dare #562 Pink, Lavender, Yellow, One-Two-Three

 

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #562 is a One-Two-Three challenge. You can use 1, 2 or 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... I had just got my order with my NEW Gnomes for Autumn Thin Cuts in it. Its part of a special and we were told there will be all 4 seasons coming - so I hope they do this gnome thin cut in other themes cause I LOVE them!! its while stocks last so don't wait grab it now.... I just had to play with it. So I pulled out my cardstock that is all scraps in its headings of "Yellow", "Purple" and "Pink" plus I pulled my "Grey" and "Browns" because I had also pulled out my old CTMH Basic Fundamentals pack which was all greys and browns (I mostly used that for the backgrounds). 

So I used a light pink cardstock to cut the base of the gnome. Then I cut the dress in a pink patterned scrap of paper  and a darker pink nose. I cut a dark yellow/gold for the flower and brown for the centre of the flower and same brown/grey for the shoes. I also did a Kraft Paper neutral stem. I cut the hair in that but didn't use it. Purple hat to finish it off. This was all using scraps!!

After cutting all the bits laid out above, I stuck them all together using Air Touch Adhesive (on my All-purpose Mat so the adhesive that runs over doesn't stick to the table). 

After I stuck my gnome girl together. I put the basic fundamentals on the card base. I ripped a strip so that it would be something for her to stand on. 

I thought this was going to be the ONLY card I did for colour dare this week but I got the bug for the gnomes. While we had the Big Shot out and the scrap paper we cut more and more to show some variations of those scrap papers. My mum came to help me and she cut lots of bits with the scraps we had to use up the scraps before throwing the bits out. I have a heap in bags ready for the next time I make gnomes. 

NOTE: for the first two I did I cut the little hands out to stick over the top... after the first 2 I decided the tiny little hand bits were just annoying and didn't add that much so I left them off my second two cards. Let me know in the comments if you think they're better on or off?

So I made some blonde and then some dark hair and then thought why not go for a radical free thinking purple haired gnome girl so my third one ended up with Purple hair. 

Then we decided we should make a different skin tone, so went with a kraft coloured gnome with darker hair. I had lightened the skin tone on the pink ones by turning over the light pink to the lightest side which made it even paler skin tone.... With our Close to My Heart two-toned cardstock we get a bunch of extra colours. 

We just kept cutting with a variety of the 3 colours from the Colour Dare and using up scraps but you can't even see where I've been. These are a great use of scraps and you can do so many varieties. They just kept going and going. 

They fit perfectly on White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack with the neutral fundamentals papers.

Colour Dare #516 Sangria, Flamingo & Carolina

I was inspired by the 3 colour panel so with limited time I did a super simple card using the 3 colours as a basis. 

The colours Sangria & Carolina have officially retired but you can still get cardstock in those colours and some other products that aren't sold out yet (but don't delay they'll be gone for good soon). Plus we all know our stashes are full of things like this. 

I used Sangria Cardstock, Flamingo Cardstock and Carolina Cardstock I started by cutting them to 4.25 inches long and 2 inches wide and then cut off a sliver of each so they fit (like an 8th or a 16th at a time). I can't work out fractions so looking at my finished item I thought they were the same width but the flamingo is slightly thinner. I folded down the corner to match the picture. 

I used Silver Shimmer Trim along the bottom to finish it off. I pulled out my recent purchase of Succa for You. Stamp set for the gorgeous Happy Birthday sentiment and stamped with 

Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad on White Daisy Cardstock scrap. Then I dovetailed it. 

A pretty simple and effective card modelled on our Colour Dare Design that wasn't even intended as an inspiration.

Colour Dare #508 - Six Pack

 

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #508 is a Six Pack where you need to choose at least 3 of the colours, plus Black, White, Gold and Silver Free to use. A brand new catalogue launched a few days ago so I wanted to use brand new stamp sets for this challenge. I pulled out all the cardstock in the challenge but settled on Avocado Cardstock and Mulberry Cardstock. 

I used Mulberry Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and stamped with the dashed lines from Background Elements. I filled in the space stamping over and over. 

I also used this above stamp set to stamp the dots on the top half of the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack in Mulberry Ink also. 

Then used New England Ivy Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad (which is WSL because the colour is retiring at the end of this month) and stamped on the Avocado Cardstock (lighter side) with the You Deserve It All Stamp + Thin Cuts. I used my Big Shot to cut out the shapes. This present stamp set is for pull up cards but I cut off the pull up part and stuck the lid on permanently (no movement). 

I then stamped with New England Ivy Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and the Background Elements for the X's along a thin strip of Avocado cardstock on the darker side.  

I used this same stamp set for the Happy Birthday that I stamped on White Daisy Cardstock strip with New England Ivy Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad (WSL) and then used my 

Micro-tip Scissors to dove-tail the pennant banner. I used the New England Ivy Ink to ink up the edges by running the paper over the stamp pad. 

I love how much texture this card has from this must have new stamp set from the new Annual Catalogue.

Colour Dare #480 Wisteria, Wild Berry and Capri

I pulled out my Party Gnomes Stamp + Thin Cuts and decided to colour the girl gnome (I had pre-cut some extra shapes last time I made a card so it was quick to stamp and colour with a pre-cut shape - I didn't need to pull out my bigshot die-cutting machine). I used the 

Bright Pink TriBlend™ Marker and the Purple TriBlend™ Marker to attempt to make Wildberry to colour the gnomes dress and hat. I think I got pretty close. The balloon at the front was fussy cut out using Wild Berry Cardstock and the ribbon is Wild Berry Stitched Ribbon. 

The lighter balloon is Wisteria Cardstock light side of the cardstock fussy cut and the darker balloon is the purple pen trying to create the darker shade of wisteria. The white glisten on the balloons is made using the White Gel Pens. The grey pens for hair and shoes are 

Ice Grey TriBlend™ Marker and Brown Grey TriBlend™ Marker.

To create the background I cut some Capri Cardstock at 4.25 inches wide (the size of the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack cards). Then I ripped the cardstock and laid it down on the cardbase alternating the sides of the cardstock (dark/light). Then I added a strip of capri cardstock at the bottom to cover the last of the white and to ensure that the bottom and top of the card were straight and not ripped. 

I glued on the Wild Berry Stitched Ribbon with Adhesive Tape and then added the Happy Birthday stamp. To attach the gnome I used 3-D Foam Tape. 

It was hard to photograph as the colours didn't seem to go true to colour... I did try edit the photo but it still isn't true to colour.

Colour Dare #374 - Black and White + 3 Colours Partnering with Double Trouble #45 "Stripes"

Welcome to our end of the year Colour Dare! We're challenging you to use the colours Black & White + 3 colors of your choice! NO other neutrals are allowed. That means no browns or grays.....only Black and White.

We are also teaming up with Double Trouble for this challenge. 

Thing 1 asks to use stripes (not plaid) somewhere on the project. If your stripes are Black & White you get an extra chance in their drawing. Thing 2 and Thing 3 also have suggestions so be sure to check out their home page for the details! 

I didn't use stripes so I can't enter the Double Trouble bonus but I used white cardstock, 

Black Glitter Paper and three pink colours- Ballerina Cardstock, Pixie Cardstock and Raspberry Cardstock.

I cut out the title and the layers of the sugar skull using the Cricut® Flower Market Digital Collection on my Cricut, for my workmate's birthday card. I made it at 5x7 size, so I set the skull size to be 5 inches. 

The title is raspberry with black glitter and stuck with 3-D Foam Tape to adhere the skull layers together I used Dual-tip Permanent Glue Pen.

This is the pack we were given at our 2019 Convention in March so I got to play with it there. We were given a set of instructions and I made my pages almost to the instructions. But I cut out the inside of the papers to save some (as it was new to me and I didn't have my orders arriving yet so wanted to make the new paper last as long as possible). 

Then I laid out the photos I wanted to put on the pages and I had WAY too many photos to put onto the page. Come in my favourite addition to page making the humble 4x6 flip flap. These come in both vertical and horizontal within the pack (see here to open link to what I'm talking about Flip Flaps™ Memory Protectors™ 4" × 6"). They also come in a variety of other sizes = 3x4, 5x7, 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 and 6x12.

Flip flaps get put onto the page protector so they have to be placed once the page is inside the protector. I prefer the Memory Protectors™ Side Loading sleeves.  Usually I photograph my pages without the memory protectors as having them on does make it very hard to photograph flip flaps with reflections and such. I haven't done a great job below as its hard to hold the page open, not get reflection off the covers and show the display. I've done the best I could without showing a video. 

This photo below is showing how I laid out the photos stacked on top of each other. 

 The photo Below this is how the finished page looks when its in the page protectors and flip flaps. Obviously the top photos are the best photos and the additional photos are underneath. I could have cropped the photos but its a scenic mountain we visited in Queensland so I didn't want to crop too much or I would have lost the grandeur of the scenery. But the photos weren't that great so I was happy to hide them as my family are the central theme of the photos. 

 

The below photo is taken with the flip flaps open. You can't see all the pictures I have on this layout because one flip flap is covering another but its just for the general idea. 8 photos in total fit on this page. 

Close up of the super cute complements and the different signs to the ones we have in WA. No Koala's crossing in WA. 

The below photo is the left hand side page with the favourite photos on top with a vertical and horizontal flip flap. this shows 7 photos on this page. 

 

Really happy with how these turned out. While the paper is sort of girly and babyish, travel and holiday photos also suited quite well this gorgeous soft paper pack. I really enjoyed working with Sweet Girl and will miss it when its gone. Get your hands on it quickly because we only have a limited time with it. The complements and titles are my favourite. 

NB: When we got this paper pack at convention the White Alphabet Foam Stickers lettering wasn't available so I haven't got back to putting a title on it yet. I can't wait to get hold of that white foam lettering because I've seen the fabulous titles made with them. See below for a few artworks from Close to My Heart showing the cool title stickers.
