Colour Dare #562 Pink, Lavender, Yellow, One-Two-Three

 

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #562 is a One-Two-Three challenge. You can use 1, 2 or 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. I had just got my order with my NEW Gnomes for Autumn Thin Cuts in it. Its part of a special and we were told there will be all 4 seasons coming - so I hope they do this gnome thin cut in other themes cause I LOVE them!! its while stocks last so don't wait grab it now.... I just had to play with it. So I pulled out my cardstock that is all scraps in its headings of "Yellow", "Purple" and "Pink" plus I pulled my "Grey" and "Browns" because I had also pulled out my old CTMH Basic Fundamentals pack which was all greys and browns (I mostly used that for the backgrounds). 

So I used a light pink cardstock to cut the base of the gnome. Then I cut the dress in a pink patterned scrap of paper  and a darker pink nose. I cut a dark yellow/gold for the flower and brown for the centre of the flower and same brown/grey for the shoes. I also did a Kraft Paper neutral stem. I cut the hair in that but didn't use it. Purple hat to finish it off. This was all using scraps!!

After cutting all the bits laid out above, I stuck them all together using Air Touch Adhesive (on my All-purpose Mat so the adhesive that runs over doesn't stick to the table). 

After I stuck my gnome girl together. I put the basic fundamentals on the card base. I ripped a strip so that it would be something for her to stand on. 

I thought this was going to be the ONLY card I did for colour dare this week but I got the bug for the gnomes. While we had the Big Shot out and the scrap paper we cut more and more to show some variations of those scrap papers. My mum came to help me and she cut lots of bits with the scraps we had to use up the scraps before throwing the bits out. I have a heap in bags ready for the next time I make gnomes. 

NOTE: for the first two I did I cut the little hands out to stick over the top... after the first 2 I decided the tiny little hand bits were just annoying and didn't add that much so I left them off my second two cards. Let me know in the comments if you think they're better on or off?

So I made some blonde and then some dark hair and then thought why not go for a radical free thinking purple haired gnome girl so my third one ended up with Purple hair. 

Then we decided we should make a different skin tone, so went with a kraft coloured gnome with darker hair. I had lightened the skin tone on the pink ones by turning over the light pink to the lightest side which made it even paler skin tone.... With our Close to My Heart two-toned cardstock we get a bunch of extra colours. 

We just kept cutting with a variety of the 3 colours from the Colour Dare and using up scraps but you can't even see where I've been. These are a great use of scraps and you can do so many varieties. They just kept going and going. 

They fit perfectly on White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack with the neutral fundamentals papers.

Colour Dare #541 Shades of Grey plus 2 Colours

I had some scraps left of a paper pack coming next month called Cosette from the April–June 2023 Catalogue. So I used a scrap of Pine Green paper from Cosette (Under the Celebrate sentiment) and some Mist blue design from a Zip Strip from Cosette (The grey/blue banner with white lines on it). You'll have to wait until 1st April to see the new catalogue - No Joke :) 

Okay to start my card I pulled out my favourite grey colours...  

Charcoal Cardstock, Pewter Cardstock and Linen Cardstock. 

Using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 517 as a basis for my design... I cut half an inch off each of the 3 cardstocks (or scraps already cut to half an inch) then cut them to 2 inches long. I used the backs and fronts of all 3 cardstock EXCEPT I realised that the dark side of Pewter is basically the light side of Charcoal so I didn't double up on those.

I went along and put the half inch strips along the bottom of my White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack card. Technically there should have been exactly the right amount of space so obviously some of my scraps were cut slightly less or more than half an inch so my spacing didn't line up as well as it should have... so I lined them all up from each side and stuck the last dark side of charcoal on last to even the weird spacing. It is centered so I don't hate it. 

Finished the grey off that base section with some Silver Shimmer Trim (as a shade of grey and a metallic). 

The title Celebrate is from For All Occasions Stamp Set. I stamped that in 

Charcoal Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad on White Daisy Cardstock. 

I used the Pine patterned paper from Cosette to back it and some leftover Charcoal Cardstock and the Mist Coloured zip strip with white stripe from Cosette as pennant banners. 

I put them up higher than the sketch because the sentiment was smaller and I didn't want to cover the silver shimmer trim. I adhered the two banners on flat and the Celebrate sentiment up on 3-D Foam Tape.

Colour Dare #446 Yellow, Blue, Grey

I needed to make my father in law an 80th birthday card so jumped into Cricut design space and created an 80th birthday card. I grabbed a font that I liked. (I don't even remember which font). Then I changed the letter space to put the 8 and 0 touching, so close I think it went into the negative. Then I copied and pasted and flipped the 80 over and overlapped it a little. I added a couple of score lines and made it as big as would fit on a cricut mat (piece of cardstock). I then duplicated the whole 80 again and then cut it in half and deleted the parts I didn't need and recoloured the blue section for the front of the card. Then to get the yellow section I used the new offset feature in cricut design space and went into the negative to get an inside shape. This is an awesome new feature that makes things SOooo much easier to create additional layers on your project. Then I added the Lets Party banner from the Cricut® Flower Market Digital Collection. Let's party was a bit of a cheeky thing to write but we were all heading over to Rottnest (An island off the coast of Western Australia that has the only colony of cute Australian mammals called Quokka's), for a whole weekend so I thought "let's party" was kind of appropriate. The photo of him opening the card was taken on the Rottnest Ferry (the boat that takes people to the island, its a 45 minute ride).

In Cricut Design Space I have coloured the card the colours I wanted for this challenge but you can create this card in any colour you wish. I have included the design space file FREE for you to download (see below). Colour Dare #384 Greys and 2 colours of your choice

 Our Colour Dare Challenge for #384 is Greys with 2 colours of your choice. You are invited to participate in this challenge too. Go to the link for Colour Dare #384 and add your entry. 

I chose to make a card using the newest Operation Smile Stamp set called You Make Me happy. With every purchase of this stamp set, $7 USD are donated to the life saving mission of Operation Smile™. Operation Smile™ is a non-profit organisation that provides surgeries to repair cleft lips and palates in children around the world.

You Make Me happy has the sweetest animals and words. Its a must for everyone. We have had a death in our family this week so I will be sending lots of hugs to family members and friends and this was a sweet and easy card to make. I used my scissors to rough up the edges of the cardstock and added an old puffy sticker. I coloured with the TriBlend markers. 

The colours I chose were grey (Charcoal Cardstock, Brown Grey TriBlend™ Marker,) plus green and red (Light Green TriBlend™ Marker, Dark Red TriBlend™ Marker).

Colour Dare #354 tic tac toe

This week's challenge Colour Dare #354

Choose from these Tic Tac Toe colours - a line along or down. Black & White are free. 

I don't know how to win at Tic-Tac-Toe so I wouldn't win. I used Pewter, Charcoal and Almond.

The ribbon is an almond colour with gold through it - you can't get this ribbon anymore but you can get a white/gold version on my website.

 The above card is made with 2 picture my life cards, and the reindeer button. 

The above card was made with the picture my life card 4x6  and I cut off the stitching ends to make it fit the 5.5 sized card - (see below x stitching from the PML card). Then I added the red shimmer trim and added the small half inch  section back to fit the space. I put Red Shimmer trim behind the 25 and then put the whole star in 3D foam tape. 

I really enjoyed this zip strip card. I used the x stitching from the PML card and stamped the Merry Christmas in the white spaces with red enamel gems. 

 More PML cards and I covered the title with the white Merry Christmas 3D foam tape. 

Another zip strip and some off cuts plus an M sized old style Christmas stamp and old red enamel hearts. 

The last thing I made was this page that I was so happy with. I used the off cuts and zip strips and black cardstock and Black Shimmer Trim and PML cards and some complements and some black and white stripes diagonal paper from the Cats & bats that went really well with it too. I really loved how this page turned out. Black and white doesn't have to be a christmassy page.
