Colour Dare #512 Fancy Five

 

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #512 is a Fancy Five colours and out of these 5 colours you need to choose at least 3 of them, plus Black, White, Browns & Gold which are free to use. I chose Glacier Cardstock, Desert Rose Cardstock, Sundance Cardstock and Lagoon Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. And can I just bring attention to the really beautiful new stamp pad designs. These are a rolling change so newer stamp sets should come with these new stickers which are SUBLIME! Anyway back to my card...

I decided to use Celebrating You Paper Packet which is brand new in the NEW Annual Catalogue, as so many of the colours are a match. I had leftovers from the gorgeous workshop packs Celebrating You Scrapbooking Workshop Kit that is the current special you can find that on my website under promotions tab with the title called "Workshop Wow - Celebrating You". I even used the thin cut that comes in that bundle in my card. 

The colours are gorgeous. I picked the balloon paper that I had leftover a 3.75x3.75 inches square. Then I put a 4x4 inch square of Desert Rose Cardstock. 

I found the template for the card in the Make It from Your Heart™ Volume 4 or Make It from Your Heart Volume 5 (I'm writing this away from my craft room so can't check which card pattern it is right now = I have all the MIFYH volumes!). 

I cut some Glacier circle quarters (see below)... Square Patterns Thin cuts and used this as a a little embellishment... like a sound shape...

I cut some circles using Circles Thin Cuts with white daisy and some old retired Stitched Circle Thin Cuts in Sundance. I stamped in the Lagoon Ink on the white. 

The sentiment Congraulations came from the below stamp set Floral Sentiments

After I had photographed the card as it was evening I didn't notice that the backing of the balloon paper was more French Vanilla than White Daisy  so my sentiment and backing White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack look a bit stark against the creamier French vanilla colour. 

Finished it off with some Clear Sparkles.

Colour Dare #480 Wisteria, Wild Berry and Capri

 

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #480 is Wisteria, Wild Berry & Capri challenge, you are free to use Black, White, and Greys. I pulled out my Party Gnomes Stamp + Thin Cuts and decided to colour the girl gnome (I had pre-cut some extra shapes last time I made a card so it was quick to stamp and colour with a pre-cut shape - I didn't need to pull out my bigshot die-cutting machine). I used the 

Bright Pink TriBlend™ Marker and the Purple TriBlend™ Marker to attempt to make Wildberry to colour the gnomes dress and hat. I think I got pretty close. The balloon at the front was fussy cut out using Wild Berry Cardstock and the ribbon is Wild Berry Stitched Ribbon. 

The lighter balloon is Wisteria Cardstock light side of the cardstock fussy cut and the darker balloon is the purple pen trying to create the darker shade of wisteria. The white glisten on the balloons is made using the White Gel Pens. The grey pens for hair and shoes are 

Ice Grey TriBlend™ Marker and Brown Grey TriBlend™ Marker.

To create the background I cut some Capri Cardstock at 4.25 inches wide (the size of the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack cards). Then I ripped the cardstock and laid it down on the cardbase alternating the sides of the cardstock (dark/light). Then I added a strip of capri cardstock at the bottom to cover the last of the white and to ensure that the bottom and top of the card were straight and not ripped. 

I glued on the Wild Berry Stitched Ribbon with Adhesive Tape and then added the Happy Birthday stamp. To attach the gnome I used 3-D Foam Tape. 

It was hard to photograph as the colours didn't seem to go true to colour... I did try edit the photo but it still isn't true to colour.

Use the materials in this kit to create three coordinating scrapbook layouts. 

The instructions also have some optional card kits using the Central Park Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts (see pic with the blue). 

This is one of the cards I made with these instructions. I used a 3rd sequin because I was covering an imperfection. Best thing to do is embellish last :) 

After I made the pages and cards from the instructions. I made some extra cards. 

The below card is made using the spotty paper on the White Cards & Envelopes and stamped "Home Sweet Home" using Black Memento™ Ink Pad stamped on 12" × 12" White Daisy Cardstock.

I cut out the house from Central Park Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts out of 12" × 12" Mink Cardstock and coloured in the roof and door and middle of the heart in ShinHan™ Touch Twin™ Carmine Marker. I stamped the "New" in Poppy Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and matted the cards in 12" × 12" Poppy Cardstock. I fussy cut the bunting from one of the Picture my life cards and adhered it plus the house and new banner all with 3-D Foam Tape.

 Next I made the welcome home card using the gorgeous paper with the houses. I stamped the Welcome Home with Pacifica Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad on white cardstock, backed in blue dashes paper and stuck on with 3D Foam tape. I coloured the home in with ShinHan™ Touch Twin™ Leaf Green Marker and I used the green ribbon from the old whimsy ribbon pack in my stash. I covered the word Summer Days on the paper with the Welcome Home title.

Water Colour Techniques Class

At my weekly Adult Learning Card Making Class I taught them 10 days ago a few fun Water Colour Painting Techniques. Smooshing was everyone's favourite and fun technique. I made a few cards with my sample 4x4 sized Watercolor Paper samples. Using Watercolor Paints with lots of water and paint droplets on sturdy plastic or your 4" × 5" My Acrylix® Blocks then turn it over and SMOOSH the paint onto your paper to create interesting organic designs.

Following on from this theme this weekend I used my watercolour samples and made another similar card using that Tea-rrific—March Stamp of the Month and Workshops Your Way® Sugar Rush Scrapbooking Kit paper. 

I used White Twine to add the tea bag tag and used Black Memento™ Ink Pad to to stamp them and my ShinHan markers to colour in the tag. I put washi tape on the back to hold the twine in place.

 One of my ladies made the following card at the class with the Smooshing Technique and Balloon Wishes stamp set. She used some 3-D Foam Tape to add dimension to the title. I loved her card so asked if I could take a photo and post to my blog.

 Another lady Helen took her watercolour paper home and created cards and brought them back this last Thursday. She did smooshing technique below with 3 or 4 main colours and got a grid sort of smooshed area. She then cut a circle out using a thin cut die (Thin Cuts—Basic Circles are on 25% discount this month). The stamps she used are her own. Again I was super impressed with what she had done with her Watercolour practice piece that I took a photo.

Helen also did the varigated wash sample and stamped the Balloon Wishes stamp at class and then took it home to mount it and stamp the title and butterflies with her own stamps. Such a pretty card she made. I was so impressed with her creation.

I have loved teaching these techniques - along with a bunch of others as seen in the blog hop and other cards I've made. 

One of my ladies only comes every second week so I'm looking forward to this Thursday to see what she made with her watercolour samples that she took home to stamp and make into a card. 

Seasonal Expressions 1 Last Chance CTMH Australasian Blog Hop

My Favourite section of the Seasonal Expressions 1 catalogue was the one I've just been working with this month, the Regatta section. I really love the stamp sets in this section. I started with a 12" X 12" sheet of Kraft Cardstock and I cut it into three cards that folded to 4 inches x 5.5 inches (leftover strips of cardstock shown). 

I used the leftover Regatta Paper from the Workshops Your Way™ Regatta Scrapbooking Kit and zip strip. Plus I printed the Happy Birthday Matey and Pirate in Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad from the Pirate Birthday. 

I used the Pirate Birthday stamp set in a few cards because its just so cute! 

I finished this card with the Regatta Complements from the Workshops Your Way™ Regatta Scrapbooking Kit. I coloured in the mini little pirate with Shin Han Markers

Next (above) I used a peice of Watercolor Paper that I had already painted with a variegation technique using the Close to My Heart Watercolor Paints and Paintbrush Set. When I am painting I like to paint lots of extra paper to use for varying projects later. All I did to finish this card off was stamp the images from the Pirate Birthday on the front. Its one of my favourite cards. Simple yet artistic. 

This next card I made (above) was using a mix of the Pirate Birthday and My Anchor stamp sets which are both really cute. The "nothing but blue skies ahead" title was a zip strip cut down from the Workshops Your Way™ Regatta Scrapbooking Kit. The anchor and paper were also from that kit. I created the "Happy Birthday Matey" banner with 12" X 12" White Daisy Cardstock and my Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors. The ink colour on this card with Sapphire Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad which is one of the Regatta colours. 

The next card I made with another pre-painted piece of Watercolor Paper that I had already painted using the Close to My Heart Watercolor Paints and Paintbrush Set. Once I painted the card, all I added with the images from the My Anchor stamp set in Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad all stuck on the 5 1/2" X 4 1/4" Colonial White Cards & Envelopes, Value Pack.

I still had some pre-painted watercolor Paper that I had already painted using the Close to My Heart Watercolor Paints and Paintbrush Set. This time I wanted to use another stamp set that I loved from the Seasonal Expressions 1 Catalogue. It is a little M-sized stamp set called A Day for Mother. 

I had been shown some really great techniques at our last Fun Day and hadn't finished them off. So I decided having already painted them that I would make this a Mothers day card. I used Sapphire Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad.

 To finish off the card, underneath the edges I put Silver Shimmer Trim. 

I started off cutting it in half with my Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors but it was really fiddly and didn't look that great so on the sides I just used the full width of the shimmer Trim. I like the fancy edge it gave to the finished product. 

This was a really fun card to paint and finish off. 

My last card (above) was also pre-painted with watercolour and I added the Balloon Wishes balloon to the colour washed card and the A Day for Mother stamp underneath. These were really quick cards for me because I'd done all the work of the painting at the last fun day and I was just finishing them off. This card was also stuck on the 5 1/2" X 4 1/4" Colonial White Cards & Envelopes, Value Pack.
