Colour Dare #560 - Fancy Five

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #560 is a Fancy Five. You need to use at least 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #560 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I chose the colours Melon, Sage & Harbour from the Famous 5. Then for this colour dare challenge I decided I wanted to use Laura Beecham's latest technique using sequins stuck onto Adhesive paper. Find Laura's video on Facebook here and on YouTube here

My daughter got excited at this technique and wanted to be involved too. I pulled out all my Close to my Heart sequins and let her have a go, she mixed a few sets to get her colours (but we haven't used her's to make anything yet). She was using my Pick-up Tool and my retired Close to My Heart tweezers but she really loves the pick-up tool for this.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

I used the silver sequins I had left but they're retired now (you can still get lots of other colours including Gold Loose Sequins).

My daughter after seeing Laura's idea decided to use one of the squares to stick the extra left over "beads" from her glass painting. Every glass painting artwork has HEAPS of leftovers.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

She used the special tool that comes with those artwork kits. Some of her full sized art peices are shown below. We haven't made a card using her blingy bits yet but she has HEAPS of them.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,
Okay getting back to my artwork. I stamped and cut the the flower cluster from the Cosette—Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts

I stamped with Memento Ink from my stash which is similar to Intense Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad or Archival Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. You need to use a good water-stable ink such as these 3 listed above so you can water colour paint them and they wont bleed the black ink.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

I used Sage Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and Melon Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad to paint the leaves and flowers respectively.

I used my Medium Round Waterbrush to paint by putting ink into the lid (by squeezing the lid onto the pad while its closed). Making sure to clean off the water mess on the lid before closing again so the ink doesn't get watered down on the stamp pad.

I used Harbour Cardstock and cut it at 4 x 5.25 inches as the backing and stuck the adhesive sheet with sequins on it behind (as per Laura's technique). Then I used a 3.75x 5 inch Sage Cardstock and cut a circle with the Circles Thin Cuts. Then in Harbour cardstock I cut the frame from the Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts.
#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

I put the sage cardstock up with 3-D Foam Tape. To finish it off, I added the painted flowers thin cut shape. Plus the title with Harbour Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad Stamped on Sage cardstock, then matted with White Daisy cardstock and double matted with Harbour cardstock. I used Melon Dots to the centres of the flowers and a few around the card.

I love how blingy this technique is and how special it makes the card look. Its also easy and fast. THANK YOU LAURA!!!!!!

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #530 is a Triple Play Challenge. You must use all these 3 colours (Desert Rose, Peach and Sage). You are also free to use all Neutrals and Metallics. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #530 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

We are also joining with the Double Trouble Blog too for this challenge. Its a fun challenge.
#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, double trouble, cuddly, Cats, Rainbow, Magical, unicorn, birthday card, sparkles, bling, clouds, tearing, cardstock, peach, sage, desert rose, stamping

Recipe: Warm & Cuddly 3-2-1 Recipe
Servings: Unlimited Portions of Fun
Ingredients:
3 Colours of your choice
2 Layers
1 Warm & Cuddly Image
Use a stamped or digital image, or
one that is die-cut or hand-drawn
Directions: To enhance your recipe you may use more than the ingredients stipulated but you must include at least the required minimum.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, double trouble, cuddly, Cats, Rainbow, Magical, unicorn, birthday card, sparkles, bling, clouds, tearing, cardstock, peach, sage, desert rose, stamping

So to start with I went looking for my coloured cardstock for colour dare. Desert Rose CardstockPeach Cardstock and Sage CardstockThen I looked for a cute and cuddly image in my stamp sets for the Double Trouble challenge and I found my Meowgical Stamp + Thin Cuts with the cutest little kitty unicorns.
#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, double trouble, cuddly, Cats, Rainbow, Magical, unicorn, birthday card, sparkles, bling, clouds, tearing, cardstock, peach, sage, desert rose, stamping
This reminded me of rainbows so I pulled out my Build-a-Rainbow Thin Cuts which are still available to purchase. I decided to use the Sleeping on a cloud kitty, but I die-cut and stamped a number of different kitty-unicorns in case I changed my mind. Next time I create with this set I've got a bunch pre-cut and in the envelope with the stamp set and thin cut. I cut the kitty-cloud and the regular cloud from White Daisy Cardstock and stamped with Memento ink for colouring (I would suggest using archival or intense black if you don't have memento ink)

While I was die-cutting I also cut the rainbow from Build-a-Rainbow Thin Cuts in both Desert Rose Cardstock and Peach Cardstock. Because there are 4 layers of the rainbow, I used front and back of these for the light and dark and luckily desert rose and peach both have similar tones so my rainbow was sort of monochromatic.

I was going to do darkest to lightest but my die-cut moved and squished the middle of the peach colours as I cut all four at once. Note: use washi tape. Previously i've used washi tape to hold all 4 layers together and it never moved but this time I didn't and it messed up... so I was oh well... we're going light to dark then.

To colour the kitty-unicorn I used the Pale Pink TriBlend™ Marker for the tale as I thought closest to peach and desert rose and then Dull Green TriBlend™ Marker for the horn to match sage and then Ice Grey TriBlend™ Marker as neutrals were free to use, so my kitty-corn was grey. I also used some white gel pens to put a bit into the tail to create a shine look. I'm not sure how successful it was but hey I liked it. :)

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, double trouble, cuddly, Cats, Rainbow, Magical, unicorn, birthday card, sparkles, bling, clouds, tearing, cardstock, peach, sage, desert rose, stamping

On the Build-a-Rainbow cloud thin cut there is no outline on the cloud so to match the outline as per the kitty-corn on the cloud I used a black journaling pen (I think it was the 0.3mm size... all our pens are currently out of stock since our boxing day sale so I can't check online to see what they're called).
#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, double trouble, cuddly, Cats, Rainbow, Magical, unicorn, birthday card, sparkles, bling, clouds, tearing, cardstock, peach, sage, desert rose, stamping
I didn't love my pen work but it looked better than being plain white. Finished is better than perfect!!

To get the background and to introduce the sage cardstock. I cut a 5.25x4 inch sage piece and put onto the White Cards & Envelopes. Then I used an offcut scrap at 5.25 wide but not full 4 inches tall and ripped it in half. I used both halves of the torn but flipped the middle section to get the colour variations. I love double sided cardstock for this purpose. Look how much variation of colour I got in this card! I also got layers which was part of the double trouble challenge.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, double trouble, cuddly, Cats, Rainbow, Magical, unicorn, birthday card, sparkles, bling, clouds, tearing, cardstock, peach, sage, desert rose, stamping
This photo taken prior to adhering the clouds. I just put them there for placement.

I then stamped the sentiment with Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad across the bottom of the "sky" from the same meowgical stamp set.

I decided I needed more layers so I adhered the clouds with 3-D Foam Tape to create dimension and layers. To finish off I used Bitty Sparkles and Clear Sparkles.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhSawyer, gnomes, happy birthday, Colour dare, stamp and thin cut, cardmaking, Silver, girl, stamping, peach, harbour, peacock, bling, journalling,

I pulled out my Party Gnomes Stamp + Thin Cuts I have been using this for my cards for a bit and a few colour dare challenge cards ago I pre-cut some extra shapes so it was quick to add a pre-cut shape - I didn't need to pull out my bigshot die-cutting machine for the gnomes... and then I decided to add a circle so needed the bigshot after all! I leave the extras in the stamp envelope. I cut two circles with the Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts a base with Harbour Cardstock & the inside of the frame with Peach Cardstock to get that two toned circles.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhSawyer, gnomes, happy birthday, Colour dare, stamp and thin cut, cardmaking, Silver, girl, stamping, peach, harbour, peacock, bling, journalling,

I then used scraps of Peach to get a rectangle and cut an offcut of the harbour cardstock and made it into a pennant banner. I used my scissors to rough up the edges of the harbour cardstock.

I edged the Peach cardstock with Silver Shimmer Trim and on the circle I put along the edge and then trimmed it with my Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors.

I stamped the Happy Birthday in black ink and put the little gnome girl up on

3-D Foam Tape. I added some of the embellishment dots from my stash that I think are actually peacock coloured (retired colour) that goes so well with the harbour colour.

I finished the card off by using Black Journaling Pen (.03) to freehand around the edge of the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack

Colour Dare #452 Candy Apple, Glacier & Lemonade

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, color dare, Butterflies, Congratulations, cardmaking, 3D, Candy Apple, Glacier, lemonade, cardstock, thin cuts, butterfly, bling,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #452 is Candy Apple, Glacier & Lemonade and you are free to use Black, White and silver. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #452 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest, SplitCoast Stampers, or Instagram).

I started with an old retired sheet of printed Glacier cardstock that was printed with a coating to give it the subtle shapes. Its just cut 4 inchs x 5.25 inches. Then I cut a strip of red dots 4 inches x 3/4 inch from the Sweet Safari Cardmaking Workshop Kit.

Then I cut a butterfly from the Layered Butterflies Thin Cuts in Lemonade CardstockThe circle Thin Cut was cut in White Daisy and stamped with Glacier Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad using the Congrats stamp from Sentiments by Melissa Esplin, as close to the "top" of the circle as would fit.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, color dare, Butterflies, Congratulations, cardmaking, 3D, Candy Apple, Glacier, lemonade, cardstock, thin cuts, butterfly, bling, Melisa Esplin,
Then I trimmed the circle down so it only peeked out. I put the red strip and the circle on before placing the butterfly and then I adhered the butterfly only by the body with 3-D Foam Tape.

To complete the look I used Bitty Sparkles to create a butterfly flight path. To ground the butterfly to the page and not have her floating off into nothingness. A simple but effective card.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, color dare, Butterflies, Congratulations, cardmaking, 3D, Candy Apple, Glacier, lemonade, cardstock, thin cuts, butterfly, bling, Melisa Esplin,
Note: We've had really overcast weather so my white is showing a bit pink. Trust me its white daisy cardstock on white daisy card and envelope.

Thanks so much for dropping by to check out my latest project. Hope you can join in the Colour My Heart Colour Dare Challenge #452 too. I'm really interested to hear what you think about my card, so I'd love you to leave a comment. See you again soon, subscribe to my blog so you don't miss a challenge.

#CTMHVandra, operation smile, Melisa Esplin, thinking of you, Random Stamping, Gold, Colour dare, #ctmh, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, cardmaking, 3D Foam, TicTacToe, purple, Ruby, bling,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #392 is using these lovely colours in the tic-tac-toe - so choose three that go down, across or diagonal.  Black, White and all neutrals are free to use. You are invited to participate in this challenge too. Go to the link for Colour Dare #392 and add your entry.

I chose the centre of the Tic-Tac-Toe board. I chose Wisteria, Gold & RUby. I used.

Wisteria CardstockWisteria Exclusive Inks™ Stamp PadGold Glitter Paper and Ruby Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and Red Pearls (only White Pearls are available to purchase now... so if you don't have red pearls, you will have to colour your white ones).

I am sending lots of cards to friends who are finding it tough to be in isolation, or lock-down or quarantine (depending on where they are living). So I need to do lots more Thinking of you, sending love, sending hugs, love you always, just for you, hello, and Grateful cards for things they are doing for us while we are also self-isolating.  So I created this card for this challenge to be a Thinking of You card.

The beautiful calligraphy "Thinking of you" is from the Sentiments by Melisa Esplin stamp set.

#CTMHVandra, operation smile, Melisa Esplin, thinking of you, Random Stamping, Gold, Colour dare, #ctmh, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, cardmaking, 3D Foam, TicTacToe, purple, Ruby, bling,

I did the random stamping with the flower/leaf in the Wisteria Ink and then the little red flowers in Ruby ink. Those stamps are from the You make me Happy stamp set that is the Operation Smile Fundraiser. When you purchase this stamp set, $7 US dollars goes to Operation Smile. A non-profit organisation that provides surgeries to repair cleft lips and palates for children around the world.

Paste-fully Creative - CTMH Technique Blog Hop

texture paste, #CTMHVandra, blog hop, technique, hearts, #CTMHBoutique, Boutique, survivor, Ribbon, Cancer Awareness, bling, base and bling, sugarplum, dots,

Welcome to our Paste-fully Creative - CTMH Technique Blog Hop. This month we are incorporating our new pastes and coordinating products to texturize our artwork. This is an International blog hop group and I am in Australia, with lots of my sister consultants in this blog hop in the US and Canada.  If you have arrived here from Tamara Sandwisch then you are in the right place. If you landed here another way, please join in by following the link at the end of this post. Follow the links, check out all the amazing ideas for using texture in your artworks and eventually you'll come right back here to where you started.

The first thing I did was grabbed out my Opaque Matte Texture PastePalette Knives and All-Purpose MatThen I grabbed out the cut out from the Thin Cuts—Shaker Window & Confetti with the heart cut outs that I'd made confetti with before. I used it as a template for my Texture paste. I used the Opaque Matte Texture Paste (White) on top of the Sugarplum CardstockI used the paper cut out circle a few times with the texture paste. It wasn't cut with the stencil so it will be thrown out afterwards, paper can be used as templates but it isn't reusable. I left my hearts pretty thick with texture paste before I removed the template, so it is more textured.

texture paste, #CTMHVandra, blog hop, technique, hearts, #CTMHBoutique, Boutique, survivor, Ribbon, Cancer Awareness, bling, base and bling, sugarplum, dots,

I hadn't gotten out my circut to cut some templates in the stencil so I just cut some holes with a standard single punch hole punch. I used the Opaque Matte Texture Paste onto the Boutique picture my life card (see below).

This month there is a limited time special on the Ribbon Warrior Stamp + Thin Cuts
For Cancer Awareness Month. So I used them to finish my cards.

To finish off my sugar plum card, I put a the Boutique Peacock paper to the left hand side of the card and the Sugarplum with texture paste on 3D foam tape and the survivor circle in 3D. I stamped in Sugarplum and black Ink. The Mink Twine was wrapped around the card with the  Base & Bling Ribbon Charm—Faux Gold (these are in the Clearance section of our websites and match the Ribbon Warrior stamp set perfectly). The charm could be taken off and put on a necklace or bracelet after the card has been given.

I finished the PML card off with the the sticker from the Boutique Complements that I stamped Hope, Courage, Hero and Friends on in Black in. Then I wrapped the card in the Mink Twine with the  Base & Bling Ribbon Charm—Faux Gold tied to it. Put it up on 3D foam tape and put the spotty paper from the Boutique Paper Packet
Got some shadow on the photo.

Thanks so much for dropping by to check out my latest project ideas. I'm really interested to hear what you think about my Cancer Awareness/Support Texture Paste cards so I'd love you to leave a comment before heading off to the next stop on our Technique Blog Hop which is Jayma Malme. I hope you leave a lovely comment on all the blog posts and come back around to mine. See you again soon.
