Colour Dare #529 Metallic plus 2 colours

I'm not on the design team for Colour Dare this week but I really liked this colour selection so I wanted to make a card using these colours.

If you wanna play along too you've only got a few days HURRY.... Colour Dare Challenge for #529 is a Metallic (Gold, Silver, Copper) plus two colours of your choice. You are also free to use all Neutrals. Go to the link for Colour Dare #529 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I whipped one up really quickly because I grabbed out my favourite colour which is Peacock (its a retired colour now) and I grabbed a matching blue which was Glacier. I then pulled out my box of "Specialty papers" which has all my metallics and glitters and holographic and other specialty papers.

I chose Silver Glitter Paper to go with the peacock and Glacier Cardstock

I pulled out the Layered Butterflies Thin Cuts which are still available to purchase and they're so pretty I can't believe they haven't sold out yet.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare, Colour Dare Challenge, peacock, Glacier, Silver, glitter paper, thinking of you, cardmaking, thin cuts, butterfly, 3D, dimension
I wanted the top layer to be silver and the middle glacier and the base peacock. So I ran each of them thru my Big Shot (I actually did 1 of each butterfly from each colour so I have another duplicate I could do - I didn't do extra Silver Glitter). I folded up the wings of each layer to get some dimension and then I ran adhesive down the centre of each layer (but left the back clear until after I'd stuck the base layer and stamped.

I used off-cuts of the glacier cardstock and peacock cardstock cut to 5.5 inches wide to put along the bottom of the card and I cut a slice of the Silver Glitter Paper to break up the two blues along the bottom.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare, Colour Dare Challenge, peacock, Glacier, Silver, glitter paper, thinking of you, cardmaking, thin cuts, butterfly, 3D, dimension

I wanted a thinking of you card so I used my Evernote to find some thinking of you sentiments and found this one from an old set called "CC1030 #30years of happy National Stamping Month".

I used peacock ink to stamp the tiny sentiment above the peacock cardstock and then stuck the butterfly on a slight angle. I finished it off with old peacock dots from a retired pack but I could have used Cake Day Dots because they have glacier coloured dots that would have looked similarly pretty or Clear Sparkles

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare, Colour Dare Challenge, peacock, Glacier, Silver, glitter paper, thinking of you, cardmaking, thin cuts, butterfly, 3D, dimension

I photographed the card standing up so you could see the dimension and took the sideways shot to get the depth of the butterfly. I did make sure that when the wings are down they're not hanging out over the base White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack so that it still fits inside the envelope when its posted.

Thanks so much for dropping by to check out my latest project. Hope you can join in the Colour My Heart Colour Dare Challenge #529. I'm really interested to hear what you think about my project, so I'd love you to leave a comment. Colour Dare #490 Browns plus one colour

#CTMHVandra, color dare, Cricut Design Space, #ctmhasyougrow, cricut, Jennifer Maker, Flower Market, Birthday, papercraft, 3D, Kraft, gold, gifts,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #490 is Browns plus one colour = Black, White and Gold are Free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #490 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest, SplitCoast Stampers, or Instagram).

I had in mind for my colours to use Browns with Lagoon... so pulled out some Kraft PaperEspresso Cardstock and some Mix-In paper (with brown tones) with Lagoon Cardstock.

My story about today's Colour Dare challenge project started with me making a special box for my Mother-In-Law's birthday in May using one of Jennifer Maker's Alphabet Cricut Boxes. I used Mulberry Cardstock with As You Grow Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet
My daughter also purchased a wooden pennant banner from Kmart and asked me to help her create a banner for her Gran. It came up really great using Black and White Vinyl. She designed it on paper and just had me help her design it in Cricut design space.

It came out really lovely and while it took me a few hours to make it wasn't as hard as I thought... so I thought when it was my friend Sarah's birthday for her 50th I thought I would create an S shape using Jennifer Makers Cricut SVG. But the W was a walk in the park compared to the S.

Also one of the tips that Jennifer Maker has is to use double sided paper so you can tell which side is which. THIS IS A MASSIVE CLUE.... I thought I would make a Kraft Base and an Espresso base or visa versa... but when was learning how to put it together I started with the Kraft paper which was a mistake because the Kraft is same on both sides whereas all of the CTMH Cardstock is double-sided with a light and dark side so its very easy to see which side is which. So I had messed up the Kraft side and ended up with two S the same shape... the W is the same both sides so it wouldn't have mattered BUT the S in reverse can not work together. Doh!

#CTMHVandra, color dare, Cricut Design Space, #ctmhasyougrow, cricut, Jennifer Maker, Flower Market, Birthday, papercraft, 3D, Kraft, gold, gifts,

So I needed to re-cut them again... I cut the base again in Espresso and a lid in Kraft and I re-did the S... By the time I got to the end of the 3rd S I was saying it was S for Swear words!

I have all the bits cut for the second Kraft half of the S but I haven't put it together yet. My surname starts with an S so it wouldn't be the worst letter to have in our house but I just couldn't do it to myself so soon after the other 3 halves of the boxes.

#CTMHVandra, color dare, Cricut Design Space, #ctmhasyougrow, cricut, Jennifer Maker, Flower Market, Birthday, papercraft, 3D, Kraft, gold, gifts,
I used the Dual-tip Permanent Glue Pen but perhaps a quicker to dry glue would be less frustrating :) But having to bend the paper back on itself was quite tricky. I would not recommend doing this shape! Pick easy letters like I or L :) Don't look too closely at my finished product because its a little rough.

#CTMHVandra, color dare, Cricut Design Space, #ctmhasyougrow, cricut, Jennifer Maker, Flower Market, Birthday, papercraft, 3D, Kraft, gold, gifts,

I then cut flowers from Cricut® Flower Market Collection in Lagoon Cardstock. The flower I chose came with these size variations and I added one extra shape (so my two flowers are slightly different). Bottom one is bigger and I put it to the bottom to create that visual heaviness at the bottom. I alternated between light and dark side of Lagoon for the flowers and off-set them a little to create pretty flower clusters. I also bent them upwards using my finger nails. Attached with Glue Dots® Ultra-thin Dots

To finish off I added some Gold Glitter Gems to the centre of the flowers. Lagoon is the colour that suits my friend Sarah's massage table so she could have it in her treatment room if she chooses.

Colour Dare #452 Candy Apple, Glacier & Lemonade

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, color dare, Butterflies, Congratulations, cardmaking, 3D, Candy Apple, Glacier, lemonade, cardstock, thin cuts, butterfly, bling,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #452 is Candy Apple, Glacier & Lemonade and you are free to use Black, White and silver. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #452 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest, SplitCoast Stampers, or Instagram).

I started with an old retired sheet of printed Glacier cardstock that was printed with a coating to give it the subtle shapes. Its just cut 4 inchs x 5.25 inches. Then I cut a strip of red dots 4 inches x 3/4 inch from the Sweet Safari Cardmaking Workshop Kit.

Then I cut a butterfly from the Layered Butterflies Thin Cuts in Lemonade CardstockThe circle Thin Cut was cut in White Daisy and stamped with Glacier Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad using the Congrats stamp from Sentiments by Melissa Esplin, as close to the "top" of the circle as would fit.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, color dare, Butterflies, Congratulations, cardmaking, 3D, Candy Apple, Glacier, lemonade, cardstock, thin cuts, butterfly, bling, Melisa Esplin,
Then I trimmed the circle down so it only peeked out. I put the red strip and the circle on before placing the butterfly and then I adhered the butterfly only by the body with 3-D Foam Tape.

To complete the look I used Bitty Sparkles to create a butterfly flight path. To ground the butterfly to the page and not have her floating off into nothingness. A simple but effective card.

Note: We've had really overcast weather so my white is showing a bit pink. Trust me its white daisy cardstock on white daisy card and envelope.

Thanks so much for dropping by to check out my latest project. Hope you can join in the Colour My Heart Colour Dare Challenge #452 too. I'm really interested to hear what you think about my card, so I'd love you to leave a comment. See you again soon, subscribe to my blog so you don't miss a challenge.

Colour Dare #402 Monochromatic Blues

#CTMHVandra, monochromatic, color dare, Colour Dare Challenge, appreciation, You're the best, #ctmhaurora, Aurora, world, thin cuts, foam tape, 3D, scouts, thank you, cardmaking, Stamp of the Month, masking, gifts,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #402 is Blue Monochromatic. Black, White, Silver and Neutrals are free to use. You are invited to participate in this challenge too. Go to the link for Colour Dare #402 and add your entry.

The card I made was for our Scout Leader who has done so much for our Scout Group during the lock-down stages within Western Australia. When we went back to Face-to-Face Scouting our Support Committee suggested a card to show our appreciation and our Scout Group Leader (my husband) commissioned me to make one... and by commissioned I mean "asked nicely for me to voluntarily make a card for no reimbursement". I was most happy to add my card making skills to gift this leader who has worked so hard for our youth.

I used the Aurora Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet plus the Aurora Cardmaking Kit (since sold out) with the banner and world thin cuts cut with Glacier CardstockPeacock Cardstock and White Daisy Cardstock

To adhere the globe to the circle thin cut, I used Dual-tip Permanent Glue Pen and then the rest I used either Tombow® Permanent Adhesive with some height mixture of 3-D Foam Tape & Thin 3-D Foam Tape.

The Title "You're the Best" is from June's Stamp of the Month and the "You Mean the World to me" stamp was from the Aurora Cardmaking stamp set. I masked the "me" off and used an alphabet stamp to add the word "US" to the end as it came from the group so I needed it to say "You mean the world to us!". I added the blue and peacock paper from the  Aurora Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet and then added some white Shimmer trim (this is retired but you can still get silver Shimmer Trim which would have also worked on this card). I cut the white shimmer trim in half with my Aluminum Cut Rail Paper Trimmer. To cut shimmer trim I acutally stuck it to the trimmer and then peeled it off again. You can see I didn't cut perfectly in half so I put the larger half on the bottom and the smaller half on the top to show the weighting.

All stuck onto a White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack card.

Colour Dare #396 Choose three colours

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhstitchedtogether, Birthday, cardmaking, pop-up, fancy card, stitched thin cuts, thin cuts, stamping, 3D, computer, laptop, desk, bunting, dots, color dare, Colour Dare Challenge,
Our Colour Dare Challenge for #396 is to choose at least 3 of the colours above. Plus Black, White and all neutrals greys are free to use. You are invited to participate in this challenge too. Go to the link for Colour Dare #396 and add your entry.

The colours I chose to use were Linen, Charcoal, Peacock and Mint. I decided to make something a bit fancy for my son for his 16th birthday. He knew he was getting a laptop for his birthday but we hadn't purchased it yet so there was no present to unwrap. I wanted him to have a special card to open. When he opened it he was VERY impressed. I am glad to say he really did appreciate my extra efforts to make him this card. I'm so glad he knew I had gone to a special effort for him.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhstitchedtogether, Birthday, cardmaking, pop-up, fancy card, stitched thin cuts, thin cuts, stamping, 3D, computer, laptop, desk, bunting, dots, color dare, Colour Dare Challenge,

I found a template on Pinterest and then had to come up with measurements myself. The original ideas was found here. This was my working out :) it was messy :)

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhstitchedtogether, Birthday, cardmaking, pop-up, fancy card, stitched thin cuts, thin cuts, stamping, 3D, computer, laptop, desk, bunting, dots, color dare, Colour Dare Challenge,

I started with Linen Cardstock and cut the card 7 inches x 10 inches to get a 7x5 inch card base. My Charcoal Cardstock was cut at 5 inches by 6.5 inches - then I scored it at 2 inch increments with a half inch slot extra for tabs. Then I cut a 2inch wide gap. I scored this on the dark side of the charcoal and then cut drawer fronts from the light side of the charcoal. The drawers were half inch high by 1.25 inches wide and the middle one was 2 inches wide. I sponged the edge of the Charcoal Cardstock drawers with Charcoal Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad.

Then I finished off the drawers with white dots from the Black & White DotsTo make my laptop I cut squares of  Peacock Cardstock and used a corner rounder to round the edges of the "laptop". Then Cut a Linen Cardstock smaller square and rounded it.

I stamped Peacock Exclusive Inks with an older birthday stamp which had numbers and birthday stamps. I freehand cut a "mouse" and curled it over and added a tiny dot of 3D foam tape to have the laptop mouse be 3D. I drew with a black pen some lines for the mouse and some lines for the keyboard (very roughly).

Adhering it all to the linen carstock. I added a back ground from the
Stitched Together Paper Packet  the mint dots. Then I cut a Mint Cardstock large circle for the "mat". To make the banner I freehand cut triangles and stuck them on with 3D foam tape and Mink Twine with smaller white dots from the Black & White Dots.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmhstitchedtogether, Birthday, cardmaking, pop-up, fancy card, stitched thin cuts, thin cuts, stamping, 3D, computer, laptop, desk, bunting, dots, color dare, Colour Dare Challenge,

On the front of the card I used Block Alphabet Thin Cuts and number thin cuts and cut out the Peacock cardstock. Then I used the Stitched Circles Thin Cuts cut out of the same Stitched Together Paper PacketPut up on 3D foam tape.

I then used the Happy Birthday thin cut and created a second card front for a second card front, sticking each tiny bit inside. I love getting two for one.

________________________________________________________

I love these Oh What Fun Felt Shapes and I wanted to do something special with them. I still had some 'Tis the Season Snowflakes left from last month and have seen a number of decorations being made with them. So I collected my ingredients from Workshops Your Way® Oh What Fun Scrapbooking Kit ... the Felt shapes, the Snowflakes, Raspberry Baker's Twine and some Clover Cardstock cut with Thin Cuts—Stitched Circles

#CTMHVandra, Christmas, decorations, Christmas tree, #ctmhOhWhatFun, blog hop, 3D, papercrafting, papercraft, sparkles, felt, Workshops Your Way,

I cut the clover circles with the light side up because I wanted the dark green to show through the holes in the snowflakes. From the back they'll also look neat with the stitched ring on the light side. I stuck the Raspberry bakers twine to the 3D foam adhesive. Put a bit extra Tombow® Permanent Adhesive to make sure they stuck to the ribbon and the circles.

#CTMHVandra, Christmas, decorations, Christmas tree, #ctmhOhWhatFun, blog hop, 3D, papercrafting, papercraft, sparkles, felt, Workshops Your Way,

So quick and easy to put together as the felt are stickers so they just stuck onto the front of the snowflakes with the dark green clover cardstock cirlces showing through the holes and the larges 4 felt shapes. So cute. So easy and they look great on our Christmas Tree (although I may use them as gifts on cards but I'm not sure yet).

#CTMHVandra, Christmas, decorations, Christmas tree, #ctmhOhWhatFun, blog hop, 3D, papercrafting, papercraft, sparkles, felt, Workshops Your Way,

Best part is that I've still got 4 small felt shapes to use on other projects.

Remember this great set Workshops Your Way® Oh What Fun Scrapbooking Kit and associated things will be only available while stocks last with this seasonal catalogue which finishes at the end of December (if not sold out beforehand) TWO WEEKS!!!
