Colour Dare #541 Shades of Grey plus 2 Colours

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #541 is Shades of greys plus 2 colours of your choice (Black, white and metallics free to use but NO other neutrals). When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. I had some scraps left of a paper pack coming next month called Cosette from the April–June 2023 Catalogue. So I used a scrap of Pine Green paper from Cosette (Under the Celebrate sentiment) and some Mist blue design from a Zip Strip from Cosette (The grey/blue banner with white lines on it). You'll have to wait until 1st April to see the new catalogue - No Joke :) 

Okay to start my card I pulled out my favourite grey colours...  

Charcoal Cardstock, Pewter Cardstock and Linen Cardstock. 

Using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 517 as a basis for my design... I cut half an inch off each of the 3 cardstocks (or scraps already cut to half an inch) then cut them to 2 inches long. I used the backs and fronts of all 3 cardstock EXCEPT I realised that the dark side of Pewter is basically the light side of Charcoal so I didn't double up on those.

I went along and put the half inch strips along the bottom of my White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack card. Technically there should have been exactly the right amount of space so obviously some of my scraps were cut slightly less or more than half an inch so my spacing didn't line up as well as it should have... so I lined them all up from each side and stuck the last dark side of charcoal on last to even the weird spacing. It is centered so I don't hate it. 

Finished the grey off that base section with some Silver Shimmer Trim (as a shade of grey and a metallic). 

The title Celebrate is from For All Occasions Stamp Set. I stamped that in 

Charcoal Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad on White Daisy Cardstock. 

I used the Pine patterned paper from Cosette to back it and some leftover Charcoal Cardstock and the Mist Coloured zip strip with white stripe from Cosette as pennant banners. 

I put them up higher than the sketch because the sentiment was smaller and I didn't want to cover the silver shimmer trim. I adhered the two banners on flat and the Celebrate sentiment up on 3-D Foam Tape.

Colour Dare #529 Metallic plus 2 colours

I'm not on the design team for Colour Dare this week but I really liked this colour selection so I wanted to make a card using these colours. 

If you wanna play along too you've only got a few days HURRY.... Colour Dare Challenge for #529 is a Metallic (Gold, Silver, Copper) plus two colours of your choice. I whipped one up really quickly because I grabbed out my favourite colour which is Peacock (its a retired colour now) and I grabbed a matching blue which was Glacier. I then pulled out my box of "Specialty papers" which has all my metallics and glitters and holographic and other specialty papers. 

I chose Silver Glitter Paper to go with the peacock and Glacier Cardstock. 

I pulled out the Layered Butterflies Thin Cuts which are still available to purchase and they're so pretty I can't believe they haven't sold out yet. 

I wanted the top layer to be silver and the middle glacier and the base peacock. So I ran each of them thru my Big Shot (I actually did 1 of each butterfly from each colour so I have another duplicate I could do - I didn't do extra Silver Glitter). I folded up the wings of each layer to get some dimension and then I ran adhesive down the centre of each layer (but left the back clear until after I'd stuck the base layer and stamped. 

I used off-cuts of the glacier cardstock and peacock cardstock cut to 5.5 inches wide to put along the bottom of the card and I cut a slice of the Silver Glitter Paper to break up the two blues along the bottom. 

 

I wanted a thinking of you card so I used my Evernote to find some thinking of you sentiments and found this one from an old set called "CC1030 #30years of happy National Stamping Month". 

I used peacock ink to stamp the tiny sentiment above the peacock cardstock and then stuck the butterfly on a slight angle. I finished it off with old peacock dots from a retired pack but I could have used Cake Day Dots because they have glacier coloured dots that would have looked similarly pretty or Clear Sparkles. 

I photographed the card standing up so you could see the dimension and took the sideways shot to get the depth of the butterfly. I did make sure that when the wings are down they're not hanging out over the base White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack so that it still fits inside the envelope when its posted.

Colour Dare #486 Three, Two, One

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #486 is the fun 3-2-1 challenge with a twist. You need to use 3 colours (with one being the card base), 2 neutrals and 1 metallic or glitter in Silver, Gold or Copper. I decided to use all cardstock (instead of printed papers) because CTMH have a cardstock carnival sale on at the moment with cardstock bundles being up to 30% off... so all my colours are using cardstock. 

My Three, Two, one is as follows: 

3: Wild Berry Cardstock (base), Wisteria Cardstock & Peach Cardstock
2: Black (Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad) & Mink Cardstock
1: Silver Shimmer Trim

I cut the Wild berry cardstock to 8.5 x 4.5 inches and folded in half with dark side out (lighter inside) to create a card that will fit inside the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack. I always have extra envelopes as I give cards without envelopes often = when I stick on the top of a parcel or something.

I had a team challenge to use a stamp set 5 ways so I was keen to create a card that showed a variation of what I would usually do... so I stamped the note pad from Smarty Pants Stamp + Thin Cuts on Wisteria, Peach and Mink in Black ink. Then I trimmed them up and rounded the one corner of each by hand... my scissor work could do with some practice!!

After I had cut out the note papers, I stamped the HAPPY, happy and happy stamps from the For All Occasions stamp set - it has 3 of them... so I stamped each colour a different font. I then used black ink to stamp the Just a happy note (from smarty pants) onto Wild Berry Cardstock... I thought it was a bit fuzzy around the edges and thought it was my stamping but looking at the carrier sheet for the stamp set it showed it was intentionally fuzzy looking around the edges... which you can see above. 

I put the happy note on with 3D foam tape and used the shimmer trim to finish the edge off and add some sparkle.

Colour Dare #484 Sawyer Tic-Tac-Toe

I pulled out my Party Gnomes Stamp + Thin Cuts I have been using this for my cards for a bit and a few colour dare challenge cards ago I pre-cut some extra shapes so it was quick to add a pre-cut shape - I didn't need to pull out my bigshot die-cutting machine for the gnomes... and then I decided to add a circle so needed the bigshot after all! I leave the extras in the stamp envelope. I cut two circles with the Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts a base with Harbour Cardstock & the inside of the frame with Peach Cardstock to get that two toned circles. 

I then used scraps of Peach to get a rectangle and cut an offcut of the harbour cardstock and made it into a pennant banner. I used my scissors to rough up the edges of the harbour cardstock. 

I edged the Peach cardstock with Silver Shimmer Trim and on the circle I put along the edge and then trimmed it with my Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors.

I stamped the Happy Birthday in black ink and put the little gnome girl up on 

3-D Foam Tape. I added some of the embellishment dots from my stash that I think are actually peacock coloured (retired colour) that goes so well with the harbour colour. 

I finished the card off by using Black Journaling Pen (.03) to freehand around the edge of the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack.

Colour Dare #434 Choose at least 3 Colours

I chose Lagoon, Grape & Wisteria with silver accents, black and white. 

I started with a thin strip of White Daisy Cardstock and swiped peacock feathers Distress Oxide™ Ink Pad I did it in a rough way to add textural element. Then I dropped some water and Clear Shimmer Brush to create some water droplets with shimmer. 

I matted the strip with Grape Cardstock (on sale for March) and added to the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack. 

I stamped the dragonfly with Wisteria Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad from the Winged Masterpiece—March Stamp of the Month and fussy cut it out. I folded the wings up and put 3D foam tape. This is a lovely stamp set. Only available for March 2021, so hurry to order. VIP's can get this free with an $80 AUD order or anyone can purchase for $9 with an $80 AUD order or full price $34 AUD. (If you're not in Australia talk to your consultant/Maker about the prices in your area). 

I stamped the wishing you the happiest of Birthdays in Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad on the bottom of the card base (I was rushing after a delay when a bee stung my nose - so apologies that its a little rough). Finished off with some Silver Glitter Gems.

Colour Dare Challenge #340 - Lagoon, Sapphire, Ballerina, Smoothie, Candy Apple, Silver at least three

This week's challenge Colour Dare #340.

Guidelines on Neutrals:  Black, White, and Gray are free to use. 

The colours in this challenge are quite similar to the colours in the So Much Happy Paper Packet (excluding a few colours like lemon, clover and mint). 

The So Much Happy Paper Pack is where I got the Lagoon check paper, the sapphire and lagoon zip strip (with the diamond shapes), and the lagoon/sapphire hearts paper. The Title Celebrate came from the cut apart sheet in the paper pack. I added that on with 3D Foam tape. 

The Silver is Silver Shimmer Trim and then I cut it in half lengthwise for the skinnier strips. I stuck it on my trimmer and cut it in half and then pulled it off the trimmer and stuck it on the card. Then to finish it off I added Silver Glitter Gems.

A simple yet effective sparkle/blingy card.

My card is designed using the Workshops Your Way® Love at First Sight Cardmaking Kit

as inspiration. (see second photo to see the sample card from that kit). This will be one of my card kits for my online card club this month. The card club is called "Vandra's Online Card Club" and its on Facebook - its for Australian people to join and I send out the card kits all pre-stamped and pre-cut. All they need to do is colour in and stick it together. Contact your consultant to see if they have a club you can join and be part of. 

I LOVE this paper with the floral pattern on it because it can be coloured in any colours you wish.
