Colour Dare #568 - Journey plus two

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #568 is a Colour of the Year challenge. You need to use Journey and then two other colours Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #568 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

Journey is the colour of the Year for Close to My Heart which I am very excited about its very similar to the colour of my car which is also my favourite colour. So when it first arrived I got excited and took lots of photos because it matched my finger nails too.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,
So when this challenge was announced in our Design Team Group I was excited. To start this card I pulled out all my Color of the Year Bundle

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,

I hadn't even opened my Journey Ink yet, I also pulled out my new

Royal Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad which hadn't been opened yet either. Then my 3rd colour Lagoon for this challenge.

I pulled out my stencils to start playing with the colours. I cut a white daisy card section at 5.5x2 and a 5.25x 4. I started with the Lagoon Ink because it was open and did the small section using the

Slimline Card Front Stencil Bundle leaf stencil. Lagoon is also lighter than Journey so I thought I would start with lighter colours and move darker with my Blending Brushes.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,
After I did the lagoon leaves I pulled out the 12x12 sized Stencil Bundle and found the stars. They have 4 sections that rotate to over lay each of them.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,

I started the stars with the lagoon ink as well and then did the overlay with Journey Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and one of the other corners of the stencil.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,
Then I used Royal Ink for one of the star stencil sections.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,
I didn't end up using the first panel I created but I have it ready for my next card.

After I'd finished the stars with the Lagoon, Journey, and Royal I decided I wanted to add the sentiment and thought I would add it on top but I really didn't want to cover up any of the stars so I pulled out my new stamp sets from the Essential Catalogue with Starter Sentiments Stamp Set and the Starter Alphabet Stamp Set and realised that I could fit the words in the spaces left by the star stencil. I wanted to make a birthday card for my mum who's birthday is the day this challenge goes live! I stamped each word in one of each of the colours for this challenge.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, star, Royal, Lagoon, Journey, happy birthday, stamping, Sequins, Colour of the Year,

I had made a small smudge at the top near the big star so to finish off the panel I added

Journey Loose Sequins with Glue Dots®. I only used the darkest sequins that looked most similar to the cardstock.

I also inked the edges of the white daisy cardstock with Journey ink but you can't really tell.
To finish the card I added Journey Cardstock at the size of the card front - 4.25 x 5.5. Then added the white daisy panel with 3D foam tape.

Colour Dare #566 - Triple Play

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #566 is a Six Pack challenge. You need to use 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. I pulled out my Desert Rose ink pad and my new stencils from the Card Front Stencil Bundle. I need to make some Thank you cards because my Mum was in hospital recently and she had some lovely nurses that looked after her so well we wanted to send thank yous.
#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,
I am having fun playing with stencils.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,

I cut a peice of White Daisy Cardstock cardstock at the same size as a card front 5.5x4.25 inches, and its the perfect size for card fronts. Then I grabbed some old washi tape and taped it down to my All-purpose Mat

Then I inked it up with Desert Rose Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and a Blending Brush

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,

To bring in the other colours of the Colour Dare Triple play I decided to add a circle from the
Small Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts. I cut the backing circle from Sundance Cardstock  in the light side and the mini circle frame from Rosemary Cardstock dark side.

It looked a little odd against the Desert Rose stencilling until I decided to add some more Rosemary Cardstock to the top and bottom of the white base card. I cut originally at 0.25 inches and it was too wide so I did a 3/8th wide strip and it was perfect.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,

On the Sundance circle I stamped the Hearts in Desert Rose Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad with the new gorgeous stamp set Your Smile Stamp Set

• With every purchase of this stamp set, $7 USD are donated to the life saving mission of Operation Smile™. Operation Smile™ is a non-profit organisation that provides surgeries to repair cleft lips and palates in children around the world.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,

Over the top of the hearts I stamped in Black ink the Thank you from the current Stamp of the Month Thoughtful Tokens—September Stamp of the Month. It has a cute little Thank You that fits perfectly. I possibly should have waited longer for the desert rose to dry before stamping the black (or use intense black) because it did bleed a little. I didn't re-do it because it did stand out well and I thought that worked okay.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, stencils, blending, desert rose, rosemary, Sundance, thank you, operation smile, D2190 Your Smile, hearts, cardmaking, circles, thin cuts,

After adhering it all down I stuck the card front to a card from White Cards & Envelopes Value PackAfter editing this photo I realised some of the adhesive was showing on the circle so I went back with my Rub & Remove™ Eraser and removed the adhesive easily.

Colour Dare #564 - Six Pack

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, Nectarine, green, Stamp of the Month, vintage, butterfly, film strip, Make it from Your Heart, thank you, stamping, Thinking of you, grape, pewter,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #564 is a Six Pack challenge. You need to use 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #564 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

The colours in this six pack are all retiring colours so will only be available while stocks last. These are really lovely colours and I am sad to see them go but there are some lovely new colours too.

I pulled out the first colours I could find so I grabbed Grape CardstockGreen Apple Cardstock, and Nectarine Cardstock. Plus I pulled out my BRAND new Make it from the Heart Volume 6 and the New Stamp of the Month Thoughtful Tokens—September Stamp of the Month. I flipped to the card section and ended up choosing the very first card I saw.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, Nectarine, green, Stamp of the Month, vintage, butterfly, film strip, Make it from Your Heart, thank you, stamping, Thinking of you, grape, pewter,

I picked pattern 20 for my card which has a diagonal cut. Because you have to cut diagonally, I figured I would go ahead and make 2 cards with the same papers. I chose Grape and Nectarine for the base.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, Nectarine, green, Stamp of the Month, vintage, butterfly, film strip, Make it from Your Heart, thank you, stamping, Thinking of you, grape, pewter,

Then Green apple cardstock for the middle and white daisy cardstock for the centre rectangle. I decided that the coloured cardstock needed some decorating too so I pulled out my inks... Grape Exclusive Inks™ Stamp PadGreen Apple Exclusive Inks™ Stamp PadNectarine Exclusive Inks™ Stamp PadPewter Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad AND Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad

I stamped the white daisy centres first. One with the round butterfly shape and one with the upright frame shape with flowers. The first one I stamped was in Black and then I decided to use pewter for the pattern stamp and black for the title.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, Nectarine, green, Stamp of the Month, vintage, butterfly, film strip, Make it from Your Heart, thank you, stamping, Thinking of you, grape, pewter,

I stamped the corner bracket in Green Apple Ink on the Green Apple cardstock opposite corners. Then I stamped the thick border on the grape and nectarine. I was going to put thick on the grape and thin on the nectarine but then decided to do them differently on each card.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, Nectarine, green, Stamp of the Month, vintage, butterfly, film strip, Make it from Your Heart, thank you, stamping, Thinking of you, grape, pewter,
This vintage style stamp of the month is really pretty and I really enjoyed creating with it. Its only available for September 2023 and you can get one for $9 when you put in an order for $80 of product or if you are a VIP you can get it for FREE with an $80 AUS order (different countries have different amounts to earn Stamp of the Month for free).

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, Nectarine, green, Stamp of the Month, vintage, butterfly, film strip, Make it from Your Heart, thank you, stamping, Thinking of you, grape, pewter,

I was really happy with how the 2 cards turned out and make a really pretty thank you card. I may add some bling to them later but right now I was content to leave them at this.

I adhered it all together with my new Close to My Heart Adhesive Runner Bundle. A new CTMH branded dotted adhesive and stuck down to the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack.
#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, Nectarine, green, Stamp of the Month, vintage, butterfly, film strip, Make it from Your Heart, thank you, stamping, Thinking of you, grape, pewter,

After I completed these 2 cards I was still feeling creative so I opened up the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and found their latest challenge Sketch 540

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, Nectarine, green, Stamp of the Month, vintage, butterfly, film strip, Make it from Your Heart, thank you, stamping, Thinking of you, grape, pewter,

I did the grape cardstock with 2 inches tall and stamped the film strip stamp in Grape ink randomly across it, the Green Apple light side with butterfly stamped with Green Apple ink twice and it was 1.5 inches tall AND then the Nectarine light side cardstock with Nectarine ink with the postage stamp looking stamp at 1 inch tall (all by 4 inches wide).

Then I took a scrap of white daisy for the tag I cut myself and stamped with black ink the vintage frame and then the rose top to imitate a bow at the top of the tag.

I wanted to put the sentiment directly onto the Grape cardstock but I didn't leave enough room so it looked weird so I stamped on a thin strip of white daisy and added it. It looks weird on that angle but I had to cover the other one underneath. Oh well, never mind. Also interesting to me how the colour shows up differently in different lighting. They are all the same papers and inks but different photos make them look different.

Colour Dare #562 Pink, Lavender, Yellow, One-Two-Three

#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #562 is a One-Two-Three challenge. You can use 1, 2 or 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #562 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I had just got my order with my NEW Gnomes for Autumn Thin Cuts in it. Its part of a special and we were told there will be all 4 seasons coming - so I hope they do this gnome thin cut in other themes cause I LOVE them!! its while stocks last so don't wait grab it now.... I just had to play with it. So I pulled out my cardstock that is all scraps in its headings of "Yellow", "Purple" and "Pink" plus I pulled my "Grey" and "Browns" because I had also pulled out my old CTMH Basic Fundamentals pack which was all greys and browns (I mostly used that for the backgrounds).
#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

So I used a light pink cardstock to cut the base of the gnome. Then I cut the dress in a pink patterned scrap of paper  and a darker pink nose. I cut a dark yellow/gold for the flower and brown for the centre of the flower and same brown/grey for the shoes. I also did a Kraft Paper neutral stem. I cut the hair in that but didn't use it. Purple hat to finish it off. This was all using scraps!!

#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,
After cutting all the bits laid out above, I stuck them all together using Air Touch Adhesive (on my All-purpose Mat so the adhesive that runs over doesn't stick to the table).

#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

After I stuck my gnome girl together. I put the basic fundamentals on the card base. I ripped a strip so that it would be something for her to stand on.
#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

I thought this was going to be the ONLY card I did for colour dare this week but I got the bug for the gnomes. While we had the Big Shot out and the scrap paper we cut more and more to show some variations of those scrap papers. My mum came to help me and she cut lots of bits with the scraps we had to use up the scraps before throwing the bits out. I have a heap in bags ready for the next time I make gnomes.

#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

NOTE: for the first two I did I cut the little hands out to stick over the top... after the first 2 I decided the tiny little hand bits were just annoying and didn't add that much so I left them off my second two cards. Let me know in the comments if you think they're better on or off?

#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

So I made some blonde and then some dark hair and then thought why not go for a radical free thinking purple haired gnome girl so my third one ended up with Purple hair.

Then we decided we should make a different skin tone, so went with a kraft coloured gnome with darker hair. I had lightened the skin tone on the pink ones by turning over the light pink to the lightest side which made it even paler skin tone.... With our Close to My Heart two-toned cardstock we get a bunch of extra colours.

#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

We just kept cutting with a variety of the 3 colours from the Colour Dare and using up scraps but you can't even see where I've been. These are a great use of scraps and you can do so many varieties. They just kept going and going.

They fit perfectly on White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack with the neutral fundamentals papers.

Colour Dare #560 - Fancy Five

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #560 is a Fancy Five. You need to use at least 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #560 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I chose the colours Melon, Sage & Harbour from the Famous 5. Then for this colour dare challenge I decided I wanted to use Laura Beecham's latest technique using sequins stuck onto Adhesive paper. Find Laura's video on Facebook here and on YouTube here

My daughter got excited at this technique and wanted to be involved too. I pulled out all my Close to my Heart sequins and let her have a go, she mixed a few sets to get her colours (but we haven't used her's to make anything yet). She was using my Pick-up Tool and my retired Close to My Heart tweezers but she really loves the pick-up tool for this.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

I used the silver sequins I had left but they're retired now (you can still get lots of other colours including Gold Loose Sequins).

My daughter after seeing Laura's idea decided to use one of the squares to stick the extra left over "beads" from her glass painting. Every glass painting artwork has HEAPS of leftovers.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

She used the special tool that comes with those artwork kits. Some of her full sized art peices are shown below. We haven't made a card using her blingy bits yet but she has HEAPS of them.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,
Okay getting back to my artwork. I stamped and cut the the flower cluster from the Cosette—Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts

I stamped with Memento Ink from my stash which is similar to Intense Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad or Archival Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. You need to use a good water-stable ink such as these 3 listed above so you can water colour paint them and they wont bleed the black ink.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

I used Sage Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and Melon Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad to paint the leaves and flowers respectively.

I used my Medium Round Waterbrush to paint by putting ink into the lid (by squeezing the lid onto the pad while its closed). Making sure to clean off the water mess on the lid before closing again so the ink doesn't get watered down on the stamp pad.

I used Harbour Cardstock and cut it at 4 x 5.25 inches as the backing and stuck the adhesive sheet with sequins on it behind (as per Laura's technique). Then I used a 3.75x 5 inch Sage Cardstock and cut a circle with the Circles Thin Cuts. Then in Harbour cardstock I cut the frame from the Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts.
#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

I put the sage cardstock up with 3-D Foam Tape. To finish it off, I added the painted flowers thin cut shape. Plus the title with Harbour Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad Stamped on Sage cardstock, then matted with White Daisy cardstock and double matted with Harbour cardstock. I used Melon Dots to the centres of the flowers and a few around the card.

I love how blingy this technique is and how special it makes the card look. Its also easy and fast. THANK YOU LAURA!!!!!!
