Colour Dare #533 Fancy Five

#CTMHVandra, Sympathy, Sorry for your loss, cardmaking, fussy cutting, flowers, stitched thin cuts, circles, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, Colour dare,

I'm not on the design team for Colour Dare this week (I do even challenges) but I really liked this colour selection of Colour Dare Challenge for #533 so I wanted to make a card using these colours. I chose to use all 5 colours AND I wanted to join the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Sketch 509. So to get both challenges into one card I created a card below.

#CTMHVandra, Sympathy, Sorry for your loss, cardmaking, fussy cutting, flowers, stitched thin cuts, circles, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, Colour dare,

Firstly I pulled out my Stitched Lattice Background Thin Cuts
to get that background shape as shown on the sketch.
#CTMHVandra, Sympathy, Sorry for your loss, cardmaking, fussy cutting, flowers, stitched thin cuts, circles, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, Colour dare,
I cut that with Linen Cardstock on the dark side. Then I cut the Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts the larger circle in White Daisy Cardstock and the edge circle in Capri Cardstock... and then I decided to put the Capri behind the Lattice so it stood out more. I cut it 4.25x5.5 inches to fit the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack size card.
#CTMHVandra, Sympathy, Sorry for your loss, cardmaking, fussy cutting, flowers, stitched thin cuts, circles, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, Colour dare,

I pulled out all my inks that match the challenge and I didn't have Avocardo ink so I grabbed a similar coloured Distress Oxide ink green colour (I think its currently unavailable or retired).

I pulled out my Floral Sentiments Stamp Set and stamped the "Sorry for your Loss" on the circle. I stuck my circles together and stamped with Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad.
#CTMHVandra, Sympathy, Sorry for your loss, cardmaking, fussy cutting, flowers, stitched thin cuts, circles, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, Colour dare,

Then I stamped the different coloured flowers onto White cardstock and the leaves onto the Linen cardstock. I started with stamping Linen ink on Linen cardstock leaves but they are too light so I used the green distress oxide instead.
I used the linen offcuts to stamp.

#CTMHVandra, Sympathy, Sorry for your loss, cardmaking, fussy cutting, flowers, stitched thin cuts, circles, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, Colour dare, stamping, floral,

Then I stamped the differnet sized flowers in the different coloured inks - Nectarine Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad, Capri Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad, and Glacier Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. Then I fussy Cut them out. I used my scrap white daisy too.

#CTMHVandra, Sympathy, Sorry for your loss, cardmaking, fussy cutting, flowers, stitched thin cuts, circles, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, Colour dare, stamping, floral,

#CTMHVandra, Sympathy, Sorry for your loss, cardmaking, fussy cutting, flowers, stitched thin cuts, circles, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, Colour dare, stamping, floral,

I arranged the flowers how I liked them and then stuck them all down and added the linen cardstock leaves behind as well.

Then to finish the sketch I added 3 Bitty Sparkles at the top near the sentiment and then 3 below near the bottom leaf. I didn't include the ribbon as it seemed like too much on this card.

Colour Dare #532 Shades of Purple & Blue plus 1 colour

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thank you, purple, Distress Oxide, dies, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, sponging, cardmaking, #ctmh, blue, hearts,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #532 is a shades of Blue and Purple plus one colour of your choice. You are also free to use all Neutrals and Metallics. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #532 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thank you, purple, Distress Oxide, dies, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, sponging, cardmaking, #ctmh, blue, hearts,

This is what I cut out for my card on the weekend with my For You Thin Cuts and I still had the negative space so needed to not loose the tiny bits so I stuck it down on a piece of scrap blue from my Blue scrap bag. I can't remember what this paper was from. The hearts are a green or peacock type colour and that is my +1 colour.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thank you, purple, Distress Oxide, dies, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, sponging, cardmaking, #ctmh, blue, hearts,

I cut a 4x4 inch block and stuck my thank you in the middle and then cut a 6x12 sheet of white (folded in half to make a 6x6 card). So I placed in the centre and put a dot in each corner to see where the distress oxides needed to go.
*Note: later I cut it smaller to see more of the sponging.

I started sponging with Seedless Preserves Distress Oxides (I think it has now retired from CTMH availability) and did the outside with Villainous Potion Distress Oxide™ Ink Pad (I LOVE the name of this purple).

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thank you, purple, Distress Oxide, dies, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, sponging, cardmaking, #ctmh, blue, hearts,
I alternated with the sponging until it was well covered using my Mini Ink Blending Tool
I have a few of the blenders but accidentally put them back away and couldn't be bothered grabbing another so I kept alternating by pulling off the sponges... This left my fingers very inky like I was playing with mulberries!

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thank you, purple, Distress Oxide, dies, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, sponging, cardmaking, #ctmh, blue, hearts,

After Sponging I sprayed some water on it and dabbed it off with a tissue so it wouldn't bleed too far.
#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thank you, purple, Distress Oxide, dies, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, sponging, cardmaking, #ctmh, blue, hearts,

Below is what it dried like. It looks really red/purple in the photo but the last photo is more what the actual finished product looks like.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thank you, purple, Distress Oxide, dies, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, sponging, cardmaking, #ctmh, blue, hearts,

To finish off the card I cut down the blue heart paper so you could see more of the central lighter purple colour. Then I raised it up using 3-D Foam Tape

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thank you, purple, Distress Oxide, dies, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, sponging, cardmaking, #ctmh, blue, hearts,

Then I realised because I had cut the blue piece down you could see the little black dot in top left and bottom right corners so I needed to cover them a little. It might not have been too obvious but I noticed so had to cover it. Keeping with the hearts them and the purples I pulled out my new Purple Dots and popped them to cover the dots in small heart and medium heart. Then added a larger heart "dot" to make a full-stop. I did ummm and arrrrrr about which colour of the purple dots I was going to use. Went middle of the road.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thank you, purple, Distress Oxide, dies, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, sponging, cardmaking, #ctmh, blue, hearts,

Colour Dare #531 Tic-Tac-Toe

#CTMHVandra, #ctmh, #ctmhBackyardBliss, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, peach, papaya, sage, thank you, thin cuts, doily, flowers, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, leaves, cardmaking,

I'm not on the design team for Colour Dare this week (I do even challenges) but I really liked this colour selection of Colour Dare Challenge for #531 so I wanted to make a card using these colours. I chose the top row, Papaya, Peach & Sage AND I wanted to join the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Sketch 508. So two birds with one stone and I'm really happy with what I came up with.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmh, #ctmhBackyardBliss, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, peach, papaya, sage, thank you, thin cuts, doily, flowers, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, leaves, cardmaking,

If you wanna play along too go to Colour Dare Challenge for #531 is a Tic-Tac-Toe (see above) and all Neutrals and Metallic are free
Go to the link for Colour Dare #531 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I pulled out my Backyard Bliss Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet and it said the colour there was Papaya so I assumed the leaf patterned sheet was papaya based but I also used some Papaya Glitter Paper to really make sure I was covered (cause it kind of looked peach although peach doesn't feature in that paper pack). The leaf paper was cut at 5 inchs x 3.75 inches.
#CTMHVandra, #ctmh, #ctmhBackyardBliss, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, peach, papaya, sage, thank you, thin cuts, doily, flowers, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, leaves, cardmaking,

I cut the background Peach Cardstock on the darker side at 5.25 inches x 4 inches. I also cut the Thank in Peach Cardstock from For You Thin Cuts.

#CTMHVandra, #ctmh, #ctmhBackyardBliss, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, peach, papaya, sage, thank you, thin cuts, doily, flowers, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, leaves, cardmaking,
I showed this picture on my Instagram this week because I was so excited to realise you can cut this as a two for one. After I cut the white daisy as shown in the picture I cut the same size piece from  Papaya Glitter Paper so I didn't waste a scrap of my more expensive and pretty glitter paper. I used only the YOU on this card and have there Thank and the negative space to use on another few cards.
#CTMHVandra, #ctmh, #ctmhBackyardBliss, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, peach, papaya, sage, thank you, thin cuts, doily, flowers, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, leaves, cardmaking,
There are other options instead of Thank... you can say Love YOU, For YOU or Thank YOU or you could even say "love for YOU!"

The next main feature of the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge was the Doily shape so I pulled out my Fancy Doilies Thin Cuts and I did have a peach shape already cut in the large size but it was too big for the regular card size so I didn't want to use the big one as I wouldn't be able to use other other features. So I cut the small doily in Sage Cardstock and kept my big peach one for another day. TIP: If you cut more than one thin cut (die-cut) at a time, slide them into the envelope of the stamp or thin cut and then when you go to use that item next time you might save yourself some time by having something pre-cut. AND it doesn't take much more time to run thru 2 at the same time or two layers of cardstock (although the doily is very intricate so it may not cut 2 together very well).

#CTMHVandra, #ctmh, #ctmhBackyardBliss, Colour Dare Challenge, color dare, peach, papaya, sage, thank you, thin cuts, doily, flowers, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, bitty sparkles, leaves, cardmaking,

After I stuck my doily on I drew my lines... I wanted them freehand and I started with a

White Gel Pen but it wasn't clear enough to see (You can see remnants of it on the card still) so I added Black LePen™ freehand over the top. Its messy but its meant to be.

I stuck my YOU in Papaya glitter down first with Air Touch Adhesive and then layered the thank over the top.

Then I went to my Embellishments/stickers/complements etc that I have sorted and pulled out my flowers zip lock. I pulled out the neutrals and the peach/papaya colours. I don't know which sets those 3 flowers come from but 3 different ones I think. And one of the "flowers" is really a doily which I think added more to the sketch. I found a white leaf stalk die-cut in my leaf zip lock bag and cut its 3 branches off and added them in 3 spots around the flowers sort of underneath. The smallest peach looking flower with grey leaves (that look sage in the photo) I took off the adhesive on the back of the sticker and then added 3-D Foam Tape to add dimension.

Then 5 Bitty Sparkles to finish off the card (2 in the centres of the flowers) and 3 around the bottom.

Thanks for the great Sketch Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge I enjoyed this a lot!

Colour Dare #529 Metallic plus 2 colours

I'm not on the design team for Colour Dare this week but I really liked this colour selection so I wanted to make a card using these colours.

If you wanna play along too you've only got a few days HURRY.... Colour Dare Challenge for #529 is a Metallic (Gold, Silver, Copper) plus two colours of your choice. You are also free to use all Neutrals. Go to the link for Colour Dare #529 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I whipped one up really quickly because I grabbed out my favourite colour which is Peacock (its a retired colour now) and I grabbed a matching blue which was Glacier. I then pulled out my box of "Specialty papers" which has all my metallics and glitters and holographic and other specialty papers.

I chose Silver Glitter Paper to go with the peacock and Glacier Cardstock

I pulled out the Layered Butterflies Thin Cuts which are still available to purchase and they're so pretty I can't believe they haven't sold out yet.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare, Colour Dare Challenge, peacock, Glacier, Silver, glitter paper, thinking of you, cardmaking, thin cuts, butterfly, 3D, dimension
I wanted the top layer to be silver and the middle glacier and the base peacock. So I ran each of them thru my Big Shot (I actually did 1 of each butterfly from each colour so I have another duplicate I could do - I didn't do extra Silver Glitter). I folded up the wings of each layer to get some dimension and then I ran adhesive down the centre of each layer (but left the back clear until after I'd stuck the base layer and stamped.

I used off-cuts of the glacier cardstock and peacock cardstock cut to 5.5 inches wide to put along the bottom of the card and I cut a slice of the Silver Glitter Paper to break up the two blues along the bottom.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare, Colour Dare Challenge, peacock, Glacier, Silver, glitter paper, thinking of you, cardmaking, thin cuts, butterfly, 3D, dimension

I wanted a thinking of you card so I used my Evernote to find some thinking of you sentiments and found this one from an old set called "CC1030 #30years of happy National Stamping Month".

I used peacock ink to stamp the tiny sentiment above the peacock cardstock and then stuck the butterfly on a slight angle. I finished it off with old peacock dots from a retired pack but I could have used Cake Day Dots because they have glacier coloured dots that would have looked similarly pretty or Clear Sparkles

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare, Colour Dare Challenge, peacock, Glacier, Silver, glitter paper, thinking of you, cardmaking, thin cuts, butterfly, 3D, dimension

I photographed the card standing up so you could see the dimension and took the sideways shot to get the depth of the butterfly. I did make sure that when the wings are down they're not hanging out over the base White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack so that it still fits inside the envelope when its posted.

Thanks so much for dropping by to check out my latest project. Colour Dare #530 Triple Play - Desert Rose, Peach & Sage

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, double trouble, cuddly, Cats, Rainbow, Magical, unicorn, birthday card, sparkles, bling, clouds, tearing, cardstock, peach, sage, desert rose, stamping

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #530 is a Triple Play Challenge. You must use all these 3 colours (Desert Rose, Peach and Sage). You are also free to use all Neutrals and Metallics. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #530 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

We are also joining with the Double Trouble Blog too for this challenge. Its a fun challenge.

Recipe: Warm & Cuddly 3-2-1 Recipe
Servings: Unlimited Portions of Fun
Ingredients:
3 Colours of your choice
2 Layers
1 Warm & Cuddly Image
Use a stamped or digital image, or
one that is die-cut or hand-drawn
Directions: To enhance your recipe you may use more than the ingredients stipulated but you must include at least the required minimum.

So to start with I went looking for my coloured cardstock for colour dare. Desert Rose CardstockPeach Cardstock and Sage CardstockThen I looked for a cute and cuddly image in my stamp sets for the Double Trouble challenge and I found my Meowgical Stamp + Thin Cuts with the cutest little kitty unicorns.
#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, double trouble, cuddly, Cats, Rainbow, Magical, unicorn, birthday card, sparkles, bling, clouds, tearing, cardstock, peach, sage, desert rose, stamping
This reminded me of rainbows so I pulled out my Build-a-Rainbow Thin Cuts which are still available to purchase. I decided to use the Sleeping on a cloud kitty, but I die-cut and stamped a number of different kitty-unicorns in case I changed my mind. Next time I create with this set I've got a bunch pre-cut and in the envelope with the stamp set and thin cut. I cut the kitty-cloud and the regular cloud from White Daisy Cardstock and stamped with Memento ink for colouring (I would suggest using archival or intense black if you don't have memento ink)

While I was die-cutting I also cut the rainbow from Build-a-Rainbow Thin Cuts in both Desert Rose Cardstock and Peach Cardstock. Because there are 4 layers of the rainbow, I used front and back of these for the light and dark and luckily desert rose and peach both have similar tones so my rainbow was sort of monochromatic.

I was going to do darkest to lightest but my die-cut moved and squished the middle of the peach colours as I cut all four at once. Note: use washi tape. Previously i've used washi tape to hold all 4 layers together and it never moved but this time I didn't and it messed up... so I was oh well... we're going light to dark then.

To colour the kitty-unicorn I used the Pale Pink TriBlend™ Marker for the tale as I thought closest to peach and desert rose and then Dull Green TriBlend™ Marker for the horn to match sage and then Ice Grey TriBlend™ Marker as neutrals were free to use, so my kitty-corn was grey. I also used some white gel pens to put a bit into the tail to create a shine look. I'm not sure how successful it was but hey I liked it. :)

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, double trouble, cuddly, Cats, Rainbow, Magical, unicorn, birthday card, sparkles, bling, clouds, tearing, cardstock, peach, sage, desert rose, stamping

On the Build-a-Rainbow cloud thin cut there is no outline on the cloud so to match the outline as per the kitty-corn on the cloud I used a black journaling pen (I think it was the 0.3mm size... all our pens are currently out of stock since our boxing day sale so I can't check online to see what they're called).
#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, double trouble, cuddly, Cats, Rainbow, Magical, unicorn, birthday card, sparkles, bling, clouds, tearing, cardstock, peach, sage, desert rose, stamping
I didn't love my pen work but it looked better than being plain white. Finished is better than perfect!!

To get the background and to introduce the sage cardstock. I cut a 5.25x4 inch sage piece and put onto the White Cards & Envelopes. Then I used an offcut scrap at 5.25 wide but not full 4 inches tall and ripped it in half. I used both halves of the torn but flipped the middle section to get the colour variations. I love double sided cardstock for this purpose. Look how much variation of colour I got in this card! I also got layers which was part of the double trouble challenge.

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, double trouble, cuddly, Cats, Rainbow, Magical, unicorn, birthday card, sparkles, bling, clouds, tearing, cardstock, peach, sage, desert rose, stamping
This photo taken prior to adhering the clouds. I just put them there for placement.

I then stamped the sentiment with Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad across the bottom of the "sky" from the same meowgical stamp set.

I decided I needed more layers so I adhered the clouds with 3-D Foam Tape to create dimension and layers. To finish off I used Bitty Sparkles and Clear Sparkles.
