Colour Dare #574 Tic-Tac-Toe

 

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #574 is a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge. You need to use 3 of the colours at least in a row, colum or diagonal... plus... you can also use Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. I decided to do diagonal because I LOVE the colour of the Year Journey, so I chose - Journey, Gold and Honey Butter. 

First step pulled out my  Card Front Stencil Pack 2 with the half hearts, my Journey Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and my Blending Brushes and got to blending. I did attempt to tap it down onto my All-purpose Mat but I didn't do a great job with it and it sort of moved (see top right hand bit). I decided not to re-do it because I was planning to stick things to the front of my card anyway. 

After doing the below half. You take the stencil and wash it and flip it over and line it up and do the second half of the heart. I was going to do it lighter on the second half but decided darker would look better. 

Second side flipped it shown below. the bottom middle one or two didn't look too lined up but I didn't do another or do anything to fix it. 

After creating my journey two toned hearts on 5.25 x 4 white cardstock with Journey ink, I matted that with Journey Cardstock. 

I wanted to create a shaker element so I got some Honey Butter Cardstock, and cut the Small Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts solid circle and then the edge in Gold Glitter Paper. 

I lined the Honey Butter circle with Small Circle Shaker Window Foam + Acetate and filled it with Journey Loose Sequins, and then adhered the acetate and the gold glitter top. I put this all over the small slip in that top right hand corner. 

This card was made specifically for a CWA (Country Women's Association) of WA Branches 90th Birthday that my mum is attending next week. So I also cut a 90 from gold glitter paper from Classic Alphabet Thin Cuts. I adhered the glitter 9 and 0 with the left over foam tape from the middle of the small circle shaker window foam. 

Its hard to photograph a shaker card so I took a few snaps to show the movement. 

To finish off the card I added a Happy sentiment from the Operation Smile stamp set Your Smile Stamp Set. With every purchase of this stamp set, $7 USD are donated to the life saving mission of Operation Smile™. Set of 17.

I stamped in Black ink on white scrap cardstock and adhered with 3D Foam tape (on 2/3rds of the banner) the part that overlapped the circle I didn't add 3D foam.

Colour Dare #546 Tic-Tac-Toe Cosette

I'm loving Cosette. The colours are really pretty. I used them ALL I couldn't choose just one row or column.

I made the cards when we were given for our CTMH Launch event and we were given cutting guides for 2 cards each. So I cut both but didn't want to make the cards the same so I flipped most of the paper and varied the cards. 

I really love the Cosette—Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts because they have thin cut shapes for the flowers plus the archway and oval. The archway and oval are perfect for card fronts but would also make great spaces on scrapbook pages. 

We coloured with Antique Pink TriBlend™ Marker, Dull Green TriBlend™ Marker, 

Gold Yellow TriBlend™ Marker, Ice Grey TriBlend™ Marker. Then we used Mulberry Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and Toffee Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and used a sponge for edges and background and water brush. 

Some of the flowers were stamped on the die cuts and some where stamped directly on the ovals or arches. 

Lots of splatter with the waterbrush. We also inked the edges of the Cosette Die-cuts (the butterfly, banner and hearts etc).

Colour Dare #486 Three, Two, One

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #486 is the fun 3-2-1 challenge with a twist. You need to use 3 colours (with one being the card base), 2 neutrals and 1 metallic or glitter in Silver, Gold or Copper. I decided to use all cardstock (instead of printed papers) because CTMH have a cardstock carnival sale on at the moment with cardstock bundles being up to 30% off... so all my colours are using cardstock. 

My Three, Two, one is as follows: 

3: Wild Berry Cardstock (base), Wisteria Cardstock & Peach Cardstock
2: Black (Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad) & Mink Cardstock
1: Silver Shimmer Trim

I cut the Wild berry cardstock to 8.5 x 4.5 inches and folded in half with dark side out (lighter inside) to create a card that will fit inside the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack. I always have extra envelopes as I give cards without envelopes often = when I stick on the top of a parcel or something.

I had a team challenge to use a stamp set 5 ways so I was keen to create a card that showed a variation of what I would usually do... so I stamped the note pad from Smarty Pants Stamp + Thin Cuts on Wisteria, Peach and Mink in Black ink. Then I trimmed them up and rounded the one corner of each by hand... my scissor work could do with some practice!!

After I had cut out the note papers, I stamped the HAPPY, happy and happy stamps from the For All Occasions stamp set - it has 3 of them... so I stamped each colour a different font. I then used black ink to stamp the Just a happy note (from smarty pants) onto Wild Berry Cardstock... I thought it was a bit fuzzy around the edges and thought it was my stamping but looking at the carrier sheet for the stamp set it showed it was intentionally fuzzy looking around the edges... which you can see above. 

I put the happy note on with 3D foam tape and used the shimmer trim to finish the edge off and add some sparkle.

Colour Dare Challenge #344 Memorial Day Inspiration

This week's challenge Colour Dare #344.

Inspiration Photo - Memorial Day. Use only the colours in the photo to create your artwork. You are free to use Black, White and Browns.

I pulled out some older fundamentals paper and created two similar cards just varying the size of the pieces. Plus some thin ribbon and black twine. Then to finish them off I added 3 white dots from the 

Black & White Dots on both cards. 

Quick simple cards that look bright and happy. I thought they would be happy mail for someone. 

I photographed them on the blanket that I was wrapped in cause it was cold :) We are heading into colder weather in Western Australia.

Cats and Bats and Falling For You CTMH Australasian Blog Hop

We are all creating with the Cats and Bats and Falling for you, These two kits are featured by Close to My Heart in September and is available until the end of the current Seasonal Expressions Ideas Book.

I've used elements from both packs in my card projects in today's blog. I really love the black shimmer elements from the Cats & Bats Complements. 

OKAY I LOVE ANYTHING WITH SHIMMER ON IT!!

I plan to use most of these complements for my kids album pages that have NOTHING to do with Halloween. I love that a lot of the papers (almost ALL) are designed in this set to be useful for so many other projects other than simply just Halloween. There is only 1 paper sheet that is clearly ONLY Halloween the rest can but used in any project! I LOVE THEM!

This photo above is all the shimmery elements I love! Its hard to capture the shimmery beautifulness that is these complements. I've zoomed in as best I can to capture some of it. 

There were a few elements that are typical Halloween elements and I think the cute little owl that has the origami shape is a great birthday owl. It could be a good card for a male or female. 

This was my first card with the have a Hoot - the alphabet is from Cricut® Artfully Sent Collection (physical cartridge) pack. White Daisy Cardstock for the title and White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack for all the cards I made. I used Black Memento™ Ink Pad for all the black stamping in these projects. 

Then using some of the paper from both Cats & Bats and Falling for You I made this card with the  Feel So Blessed—September Stamp of the Month. This is a lovely stamp set full of thanks and gratitude and is only available to purchase in September (You can get it for only $7.50 with eligible purchase). The orange check paper from Cats & Bats goes well with the flowers and spots of the Falling for You papers. The Quote in the middle was stamped with Heather Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. The "love this" heart is stuck on with 3-D Foam Dots.

Then I did a final simple thank you card. I've been looking for more multi-gender versions of my thank you cards because often I do them with flowers and hearts and I definitely require more masculine or 'suitable for anyone' thank yous. The black and white stripe paper is from the Cats and Bats and the spots are from Falling for You. The Thanks is stamped in Black Memento™ Ink Pad directly onto the paper and the "for everything" was stamped on White Daisy Cardstock and cut out and suck on with Thin 3-D Foam Tape for a little dimension. The star from the Cats and Bats was stuck on with Tombow® Permanent Adhesive (as well as the owl) because it is easily adhered around thin edges. 

Simple, basic, elegant with the black and white stripes. Easily replicatable and simple for beginners.
