Colour Dare #562 Pink, Lavender, Yellow, One-Two-Three

#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #562 is a One-Two-Three challenge. You can use 1, 2 or 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #562 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I had just got my order with my NEW Gnomes for Autumn Thin Cuts in it. Its part of a special and we were told there will be all 4 seasons coming - so I hope they do this gnome thin cut in other themes cause I LOVE them!! its while stocks last so don't wait grab it now.... I just had to play with it. So I pulled out my cardstock that is all scraps in its headings of "Yellow", "Purple" and "Pink" plus I pulled my "Grey" and "Browns" because I had also pulled out my old CTMH Basic Fundamentals pack which was all greys and browns (I mostly used that for the backgrounds).
#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

So I used a light pink cardstock to cut the base of the gnome. Then I cut the dress in a pink patterned scrap of paper  and a darker pink nose. I cut a dark yellow/gold for the flower and brown for the centre of the flower and same brown/grey for the shoes. I also did a Kraft Paper neutral stem. I cut the hair in that but didn't use it. Purple hat to finish it off. This was all using scraps!!

#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,
After cutting all the bits laid out above, I stuck them all together using Air Touch Adhesive (on my All-purpose Mat so the adhesive that runs over doesn't stick to the table).

#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

After I stuck my gnome girl together. I put the basic fundamentals on the card base. I ripped a strip so that it would be something for her to stand on.
#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

I thought this was going to be the ONLY card I did for colour dare this week but I got the bug for the gnomes. While we had the Big Shot out and the scrap paper we cut more and more to show some variations of those scrap papers. My mum came to help me and she cut lots of bits with the scraps we had to use up the scraps before throwing the bits out. I have a heap in bags ready for the next time I make gnomes.

#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

NOTE: for the first two I did I cut the little hands out to stick over the top... after the first 2 I decided the tiny little hand bits were just annoying and didn't add that much so I left them off my second two cards. Let me know in the comments if you think they're better on or off?

#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

So I made some blonde and then some dark hair and then thought why not go for a radical free thinking purple haired gnome girl so my third one ended up with Purple hair.

Then we decided we should make a different skin tone, so went with a kraft coloured gnome with darker hair. I had lightened the skin tone on the pink ones by turning over the light pink to the lightest side which made it even paler skin tone.... With our Close to My Heart two-toned cardstock we get a bunch of extra colours.

#CTMHVandra, gnomes, Colour Dare Challenge, thin cuts, purple, yellow, Pink, #CTMHBasicFundamentals, scraps, cardmaking, flowers, sunflower, grey,

We just kept cutting with a variety of the 3 colours from the Colour Dare and using up scraps but you can't even see where I've been. These are a great use of scraps and you can do so many varieties. They just kept going and going.

They fit perfectly on White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack with the neutral fundamentals papers.

Colour Dare #560 - Fancy Five

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #560 is a Fancy Five. You need to use at least 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #560 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I chose the colours Melon, Sage & Harbour from the Famous 5. Then for this colour dare challenge I decided I wanted to use Laura Beecham's latest technique using sequins stuck onto Adhesive paper. Find Laura's video on Facebook here and on YouTube here

My daughter got excited at this technique and wanted to be involved too. I pulled out all my Close to my Heart sequins and let her have a go, she mixed a few sets to get her colours (but we haven't used her's to make anything yet). She was using my Pick-up Tool and my retired Close to My Heart tweezers but she really loves the pick-up tool for this.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

I used the silver sequins I had left but they're retired now (you can still get lots of other colours including Gold Loose Sequins).

My daughter after seeing Laura's idea decided to use one of the squares to stick the extra left over "beads" from her glass painting. Every glass painting artwork has HEAPS of leftovers.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

She used the special tool that comes with those artwork kits. Some of her full sized art peices are shown below. We haven't made a card using her blingy bits yet but she has HEAPS of them.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,
Okay getting back to my artwork. I stamped and cut the the flower cluster from the Cosette—Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts

I stamped with Memento Ink from my stash which is similar to Intense Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad or Archival Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. You need to use a good water-stable ink such as these 3 listed above so you can water colour paint them and they wont bleed the black ink.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

I used Sage Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and Melon Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad to paint the leaves and flowers respectively.

I used my Medium Round Waterbrush to paint by putting ink into the lid (by squeezing the lid onto the pad while its closed). Making sure to clean off the water mess on the lid before closing again so the ink doesn't get watered down on the stamp pad.

I used Harbour Cardstock and cut it at 4 x 5.25 inches as the backing and stuck the adhesive sheet with sequins on it behind (as per Laura's technique). Then I used a 3.75x 5 inch Sage Cardstock and cut a circle with the Circles Thin Cuts. Then in Harbour cardstock I cut the frame from the Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts.
#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, Sequins, adhesive-backed, Water colour Paints, watercolour brushes, painting with ink, stamp and thin cut, shaker card, melon, sage, harbour, bling,

I put the sage cardstock up with 3-D Foam Tape. To finish it off, I added the painted flowers thin cut shape. Plus the title with Harbour Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad Stamped on Sage cardstock, then matted with White Daisy cardstock and double matted with Harbour cardstock. I used Melon Dots to the centres of the flowers and a few around the card.

I love how blingy this technique is and how special it makes the card look. Its also easy and fast. THANK YOU LAURA!!!!!!

Colour Dare #559 - Inspiration

#CTMHVandra, happy birthday, Colour Dare Challenge, Cricut Design Space, papaya, green, Glacier, Capri

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #559 is an inspiration photo. You need to use at least 3 of the colours from the above picture Plus.... Black, white, neutrals AND Metallics are free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. I needed to make a 60th birthday card for a friend, so I pulled out the colours I thought I would use.

Glacier CardstockGreen Apple Cardstock and Papaya Cardstock

#CTMHVandra, happy birthday, Colour Dare Challenge, Cricut Design Space, papaya, green, Glacier, Capri

I designed a card in Cricut Design space. Like previous cards I wanted a large number card.
I made it just under 6x6 size to fit in a square envelope.
#CTMHVandra, happy birthday, Colour Dare Challenge, Cricut Design Space, papaya, green, Glacier, Capri
I created the 60, then I created an offset for the outline. Then flipped it and put a score line in it (as shown above).

#CTMHVandra, happy birthday, Colour Dare Challenge, Cricut Design Space, papaya, green, Glacier, Capri
I did an extra 60 in White Daisy Cardstock cause I thought I might add it inside (I didn't end up using it). I also cut the happy birthday from the Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut Collection and added a white offset for that too.

I cut it out and decided the Glacier was too grey and it looked washed out with the papaya and green apple.

#CTMHVandra, happy birthday, Colour Dare Challenge, Cricut Design Space, papaya, green, Glacier, Capri

SO... I cut it again with Capri Cardstock. I had the extra white 60 and the glacier card base so I have 2 cards now :)

#CTMHVandra, happy birthday, Colour Dare Challenge, Cricut Design Space, papaya, green, Glacier, Capri

I finished off the card by gluing it all together with Air Touch Adhesive.

Colour Dare #558 Tic-Tac-Toe

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thinking of you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, #ctmhCapeCod, star, starfish, leaves, Branches, sketch, #heroeswithheart, #heartofahero, Lagoon, beach, cardmaking, stamping,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #558 is a Tic-Tac-Toe board. You need to use at least 3 of the colours from the above picture in Row, Column or diagonal). Plus.... Black, white, neutrals free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #558 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I thought I better choose my favourite colours in this tic-tac-toe- so I chose Row 3: Lagoon, Raspberry and Mink.. I needed a design so I pulled up Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge for this week Sketch 534 and thought I would create a card with this. *Click HERE for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thinking of you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, #ctmhCapeCod, star, starfish, leaves, Branches, sketch, #heroeswithheart, #heartofahero, Lagoon, beach, cardmaking, stamping,

with the Sketch I decided to use Raspberry Cardstock to match with the red strip at the top. Then I got the Lagoon Cardstock for the bottom strip. I grabbed a largish scrap of Mink Cardstock and cut a banner and stamped with Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad

with my favourite Stamp set from the Annual Catalogue that is just about to retire For All Occasions Stamp Set (I will be sad when our current catalogue goes).

For the sketch there were flowers and leaves and I had the Cape Cod Embellishments
that I had won at a Consultant Crafternoon. They look perfect for the sketch. #CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thinking of you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, #ctmhCapeCod, star, starfish, leaves, Branches, sketch, #heroeswithheart, #heartofahero, Lagoon, beach, cardmaking, stamping,
To finish as per the sketch I added white dots from my stash that are similar to the current

Black & White Dots

#CTMHVandra, Colour dare, thinking of you, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, #ctmhCapeCod, star, starfish, leaves, Branches, sketch, #heroeswithheart, #heartofahero, Lagoon, beach, cardmaking, stamping,

A simple and easy card but I was happy with the results. I hope you like it too.  I wanted something easy because I am busy this week, doing the Close to My Heart Virtual Convention (the new annual catalogue launch and the new September/October seasonal catalogue launch). The theme is Heroes with Heart so we have been dressing up like super heroes. I am having LOTS of fun!

Colour Dare #556 - Six Pack

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, coquette, #ctmhCosette, stamping, lace, doily, sponging, thin cuts, birthday card, happy birthday, 3D Foam,
Our Colour Dare Challenge for #556 is a Six Pack (You need to use at least 3 of the colours from the above picture). Plus.... Black, white, neutral and metallics free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #556 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

My daughter wanted a birthday card for her friend who was having a high tea with a Coquette aesthetic... I had to google what it meant...

"The coquette aesthetic values are centered around a playful and flirtatious attitude, often with an emphasis on femininity and sensuality. Some common motifs, colors, hairstyles, makeup styles, and key clothing items associated with Coquette aesthetic include:

  • Hearts, bows, flowers, lace, polka dots, cherries, strawberries, and other cute and playful patterns.
  • Soft pinks, pastel blues, creams, whites, and other light and airy colors that emphasize a sweet and innocent look.
  • Soft, curly hairstyles with loose waves, braids, or updos adorned with hair accessories like bows or flowers.
  • Subtle, natural-looking makeup that enhances natural beauty, with a focus on flawless skin, rosy cheeks, and fluttery lashes. Glossy lips and a cat-eye eyeliner are also popular choices.
  • Coquette dresses and skirts in flowy fabrics like chiffon or tulle, often featuring ruffles, lace, or bows. Crop tops, off-the-shoulder tops, and other pieces that emphasize the collarbone and shoulders are also popular. High heels or platform shoes complete the look."
Description above taken from
https://cosmiquestudio.com/blog/ultimate-guide-to-coquette-aesthetic/

So originally I pulled out my ink colours I wanted to use - Mulberry, Periwinkle and Ballerina and used the "sample aesthetic" that my daughter gave me with the stamp set I had on my stamping station at the time... called Floral Sentiments Stamp Set D2122.
#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, coquette, #ctmhCosette, stamping, lace, doily, sponging, thin cuts, birthday card, happy birthday, 3D Foam, Fail
I decided it was a fail. I didn't like it and decided to change it up. I decided to go with Laces and doily's instead.

I pulled out my favourite Bring Back your Pack stamp set Love Doily Stamp Set and the
Cosette Cardmaking Workshop Kit patterned paper that is in the Mulberry colour. I had about a 3.75 inch square of the mulberry stripe and I stamped with Mulberry Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and then matted it with 4 inch bit of Mulberry Cardstock

I decided that I needed to layer the doily stamp... so I stamped in Ballerina Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad on French Vanilla Cardstock also with Mulberry Ink and cut them out with my fine point scissors. I offset them and adhered with 3D foam tape. I was surprised at how "brown" toned the Mulberry looked on the French Vanilla.

I was cardmaking after my daughter went to bed and I couldn't decide how to finish it. I had the Cosette die-cut embellishments with the bird, butterfly and leaves and was using my Blending Brushes in Glacier Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and Ballerina ink.

I have a retired lace thin cut that I cut with Glacier Cardstock and left it all sitting out on the table because I wasn't entirely confident in it.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, coquette, #ctmhCosette, stamping, lace, doily, sponging, thin cuts, birthday card, happy birthday, 3D Foam,

Then next day I talked to my daughter and decided what we were going to do... I used the lace, removed all the Cosette Embellishments and stamped with Black Ink the Happy Birthday from my stamp set call... You Deserve It All Stamp + Thin Cuts

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, coquette, #ctmhCosette, stamping, lace, doily, sponging, thin cuts, birthday card, happy birthday, 3D Foam,

The photo above is the cream lace we wrapped around the gift and the mulberry looking dusky rose coloured lace that my daughter had in her hair. Below is her writing in the card with her mulberry/peach/ballerina/sage/ etc floral dress and mulberry lace in her hair. She wore pearl earrings and around her neck. She looked very in theme.

#CTMHVandra, Colour Dare Challenge, coquette, #ctmhCosette, stamping, lace, doily, sponging, thin cuts, birthday card, happy birthday, 3D Foam,

My daughter was very happy with the card and said it was in theme of the asthetic. PHEW... I'll take that as a win. She had a lovely time and has a lovely group of friends.

Colour Dare #555 - Four Square

#CTMHVandra,Colour dare, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, sketch, Candy Apple, sapphire, sage, Butterflies, butterfly, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, birthday card, celebrate,

Our Colour Dare Challenge for #555 is a Four Square (You need to use at least 3 of the colours from the above picture). Plus.... Black, white, neutral and metallics free to use. When you are creating for more than one challenge please make sure your project meets our requirement. Most importantly - have fun!  Go to the link for Colour Dare #555 and add your entry. When you submit your entry you must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. There are LOTS of ways to enter either a Blog Post or post to an online gallery (Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram etc), more details on the Colour Dare Blog post (see link above).

I Chose my colours Sapphire, Candy Apple and Sage and pulled out my cardstock and inks in those colours. Then I decided I needed more creative inspiration so I checked out the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and found their latest sketch 531. Click here to get to the Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge page

Look below for the sketch. I picked some main elements like the frame, the diagonal lines on the top half. The banner in the middle and the 3 design elements with tails (balloons) but I decided to change them up with butterflies. The Sentiment with a larger and then smaller on the banner. These are the elements I chose to follow from the sketch as best I could.

#CTMHVandra,Colour dare, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, sketch, Candy Apple, sapphire, sage, Butterflies, butterfly, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, birthday card, celebrate,

I pulled out my White Daisy Cardstock and cut half of it with Stitched Lattice Background Thin Cuts but it didn't have the diagonal lines so I cut Sapphire Cardstock in very thin strips (like one 8th maybe) and I stuck them on between the little flowers. I backed the White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack card with Sapphire Cardstock 5.5 x 4.25 inches.

#CTMHVandra,Colour dare, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, sketch, Candy Apple, sapphire, sage, Butterflies, butterfly, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, birthday card, celebrate,

I created a little frame for the bottom of the card by getting a piece of white daisy cardstock at 4 inches wide and about 3 inches high... I cut about a frame about the 8th of an inch wide too on 3 sides and stuck it up under the diagonal stripes part. To cover the edge I used the banner.

I grabbed my scraps of Sage Cardstock and cut a piece that was 4.25 wide with my scissors into a banner on both edges. I adhered the banner and then trimmed the sides of top where it stuck out from the banner. Then I Stamped in Sapphire Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad from two stamp sets the Celebrate from For All Occasions Stamp Set and the HAPPY BIRTHDAY from the You Deserve It All Stamp + Thin Cuts.

#CTMHVandra,Colour dare, Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge, sketch, Candy Apple, sapphire, sage, Butterflies, butterfly, #ctmhthincuts, thin cuts, birthday card, celebrate,

For my 3 balloon images I used the small Butterfly thin cut from Layered Butterflies Thin Cuts. I cut them in White Daisy Cardstock and used my Round Sponge (cut into wedges) to sponge Candy Apple Exclusive Inks™ onto the butterflies. The first one was very wet ink so it turned out a lot darker... after the first one I used a lighter hand but I did like that they have variations in their colours.

I drew with my Black LePen™ some lines for the butterflies but I kind of covered them up. The dark red butterfly and the top lighter one were stuck with Air Touch Adhesive and the bottom butterfly was adhered with 3-D Foam Tape for that added dimension.
