From the Notebook July SOTM Australasian Blog Hop

Welcome to our Australasian Blog Hop. We have all been creating with "From the Notebook—July Stamp of the MonthStamp set. If you have arrived here from Doris Taylor Creative Inspirations then you are in the right place. If you landed here another way, please join in by following the link at the end of this post. Follow the links, check out all the amazing ideas and eventually you'll come right back here to where you started.

Today I would like to share with you my project which features the From the Notebook—July Stamp of the Month available exclusively throughout July 2016 for $27 or for just $7.50 when you spend $75. This stamp set is perfect for diary journalling, Calendars and other fun stuff like that. One of the Close to My Heart designed pages looked amazing (see below).

I wanted to show this stamp set used in a different way on a card. There are so many stamps in this set but a few caught my eye.

I started with the Hello Stamp and stamped it onto White Daisy Cardstock
with Black Memento™ Ink PadI stamped a couple to see what I could do with the extras. These would make great name tags for birthday parties or workshop type events.

The next thing I did was grabbed scraps of Workshops Your Way™ Magical Scrapbooking Kit and fitted them to my 5 1/2" × 4 1/4" White Cards & Envelopes, Value Pack white card.

I then stamped the "Read this" and small arrow on the yellow of the Magical paper with Black Memento™ Ink Pad. I cut a 1 inch circle out of White Daisy Cardstock using 1" Circle Punch and stamped the "Super" circle onto it with  Cranberry Exclusive Inks™ Stamp PadI also stamped the "You are Fabulous" with Cranberry Ink with Tickled Pink stamp set.

I didn't have any Black Shimmer Trim my favourite trim ever (It's all run out!!). So I grabbed some of my black shimmer paper from the Black & Grey Glitter Paper pack and used that instead. Note to self: buy more Black Shimmer TRIM!!!

I added the "Hello you are Fabulous" and "Super" stamps with 3-D Foam Tape

Remember this great stamp set  From the Notebook—July Stamp of the Month is only available throughout June from my website or from your Close to My Heart Consultant

Thanks so much for dropping by to check out my latest project, I hope you get inspired. I'm really interested to hear what you think about it, so I'd love you to leave a comment before heading off to the next stop on our Australasian Blog Hop which is Lauren Moore- CTMH Craftings.

Thin Cuts - CTMH Australasian Blog Hop

Welcome to our Australasian Blog Hop. We have all been creating with Close to My Heart's
"Thin Cuts" Dies and coordinating Stamp sets.

If you have arrived here from Maz Wood: Inky Fingers then you are in the right place. If you landed here another way, please join in by following the link at the end of this post. Follow the links, check out all the amazing ideas and eventually you'll come right back here to where you started.

There are currently 4 sets of Thin Cuts that are currently available (see below).

I started with the Tickled Pink Thin Cuts with matching Tickled Pink stamp set and while I was cutting them I cut out extras of the A Bunch of Love Thin Cuts to use for other projects with the matching A Bunch of Love stamp set.

I wanted to make a pop up card and the steps below are how I did it.

Below are the pictures of the stamp sets that perfectly coordinate with these two thin cuts.

You put your thin cuts downward (all facing with the sharp edge down). I found the wings of the flamingo moved a little so I found the best way to keep them in place was with Washi Tape. (You can get this pear striped washi tape in the Ultimate Embellishments Bundle that is available in the Flash Sale today until Tuesday).

For my Card I got a piece of White Daisy Cardstock cut to 8 inches x 4 inches. I marked the middle of the cardstock on the edges at 4 inches (You can use a pencil mark or a small crease at the edge of the card - DO NOT crease the card all the way across or your pop up card will be ruined - I'm not exaggerating {Smiley Face}).

When you are cutting the pop up card from any of the thin cuts you choose, make sure you lay only half of the shape across the centre line. You hang out the half you wish to NOT cut out the bottom of your cutting placement on your Big Shot or Cuttlebug (as shown above).

Above photo shows how the flamingo looked after it had been cut and folded. He almost looks like a dinosaur (Note to self: Dinosaur!!). I made it this size purposefully because it fits into our 5 1/2" × 4 1/4" White Envelopes, from the Value PackAlso available in the Flash Sale Ultimate Envelopes Bundle (6-pack) available until Tuesday this week.

The above shows how the flamingo looks printed in Pixie Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad
and Black Memento™ Ink PadThe Memento Ink is because I was planning to use watercolour paints!

I loved using the Watercolor Paints and Waterbrush—Medium Round with blue water colour paints from the set.

While I was waiting for the paint to dry I took a photo of the above lying down opened out. This is how I painted them.

To finish off the cards I used 3-D Foam Tape to stick on the wings and extra flamingo and Black Memento™ Ink Pad to stamp the "You are Fabulous" sentiment.

I was really happy with my end product and made 10 of them for our Consultant ten-fold swap at our Monthly Consultant Fun Day this month.

Remember these Thin Cuts are only available until the end of the current Seasonal Expressions Catalogue (end of August 2016) from my website or from your Close to My Heart Consultant

Happy Everything Operation Smile Blog Hop

Welcome to our Australasian Operation Smile Blog Hop. Welcome to those that arrived from Lauren Moore- CTMH Craftings or those that came from another place, please continue to follow along to see all the blogs in the loop until you get back to where you started.

Close To My Heart is partnered with Operation Smile®, a private, Not-for-profit organization that provides free, life-changing surgery that repairs smiles and reshapes lives, one child at a time.

Today we will be sharing some inspiration using the C sized stamp set which is featured on the back page of our Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book called
Happy Everything. By purchasing this set at full retail price of $27 you can help change the life of a child as CTMH will donate $US3 from your purchase to Operation smile from now until 31st August 2015.

I absolutely LOVE this stamp set. I've made a selection of cards because I just got so many ideas with this set. I couldn't stop, its the perfect card making stamp set (although its a perfect scrapbooking stamp set too). To start with I made the card on the back of the Catalogue.

You can see on the back page of the catalogue that its slightly different because I didn't have the Stitch Guide but I loved how this turned out with the Blossom Paper Packet,

I used a Sponge Dauber to colour in the balloon with Lagoon Ink and my Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors to cut out the balloon.

Next I made the 2 cute cards using some small scraps from a retired paper packet. This
Happy Everything card turned out really well, I thought.

and stamped the long arrows on it from the Happy Everything set with the generational stamping technique. Then I used Hollyhock Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad to stamp the "Happy Every thing". The Green square is from the retired Heartstrings paper packet but you can still order the paper in Picture My Life™ Heartstrings Scrapbooking Program. Then I finished the card with Black Shimmer Trim and Bubbly Enamel Shapes

Next I made this "Happy as a Bee in A Hive Card". I had some scraps of half inch strips and I put them onto the bottom of the card to make like a wall. I had strips of Pixie Cardstock

I stamped the sentiments, the bees and the buzzy line for the bee in Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and then coloured in their little buzzy behinds with the ShinHan™ Touch Twin™ Golden Yellow Marker.
So quick, so simple and it uses half inch scraps.

The last thing I made was for my consultant Fun Day for my swap day. We make a ten fold swap each month, we make 10 (I made 12 this time) of each item and then swap with others who make 10 items so we come home with hopefully 10 different items, so we get a variety of cards.

I made this card using the June Stamp of the Month Ice Cream Dream – June 2015 Stamp of the Month (available this month only!) with the cute little doggy with the Happy Birthday from the Happy Everything stamp set. I coloured in the dogs a variety of colours using the Watercolor Pencils. The paper pack was the Blossom Paper Packet and I ran the edges over the Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad to distress the edges in a rustic manner. I did that to the squares of 12" X 12" White Daisy Cardstock, with the doggies on them too. To finish it off I put the bows using the Glacier Extra Thick Twine and glued them on using small dobs of Liquid Glass.

Recently our VP Monica Wihongi went on a mission with Operation Smile to support the children with live changing operations. On the same trip with Monica was Kate Walsh (from Private Practice and Greys Anatomy) and I think thats cool. Check out the CTMH Blog with photos of Monica's trip. http://blog.closetomyheart.com/2015/05/04/mission-to-mexico-monicas-journey-with-operation-smile/

It only takes $275 (AUS dollars) to pay for 1 child to have their surgery. Go to the Operation Smile Australia website for further details. The difference in the lives of these children and their families is amazing. I am happy to support this charity through my Close to My Heart Business and I am very happy that we can all give a small part by buying and using this Happy Everything stamp set.

The stamp set "Happy Everything" is available from your CTMH consultant and $3USD from every purchase will go directly to Operation Smile until the end of August. You can also choose to make a donation of any size directly to your consultant, donations over $2 are tax deductable.

You're the Bomb Operation Smile Blog Hop

Welcome to our Australasian Operation Smile Blog Hop. Welcome to those that arrived from Anne's Blog - Mummy you made this? or those that came from another place, please continue to follow along to see all the blogs in the loop until you get back to where you started.

Close To My Heart is partnered with Operation Smile®, a private, Not-for-profit organization that provides free, life-changing surgery that repairs smiles and reshapes lives, one child at a time.

Today we will be sharing some inspiration using the "You're the Bomb" C sized stamp set which is featured on the back page of our Seasonal Expressions Idea Book.
By purchasing this set at full retail price of $21 you can help change the life of achild as CTMH will donate $US3 from your purchase to Operation smile from now until 31st March 2015.

I love this stamp set as it has such a positive vibe about it. You can create cards and pages that are so positive, uplifting and encouraging. I decided that I wanted to make some small Random Acts of Kindness Cards, to follow my blog's theme from last week. These 3x3 cards are designed to be in your handbag at all times to give to people you see in your travels, especially those that do wonderful things for you. For example to thank a waitstaff person who serves you at a cafe or restaurant; To thank a cleaner in a shopping centre or food hall; To thank an assistant at a shop who is very helpful with helping you try on clothes; to thank someone who looks after your kids during the holidays or to thank someone who does something really wonderful for you (there are no limits). You can grab them out of your bag and quickly write a note, you can include their name (if you know it or if they have a nametag) or just leave it as a quickly scribbled thanks for the great service you gave me today, you are wonderful/fabulous/awesome. This will make someone's entire day! Lots of people in the service industry don't get thanked often, so they will treasure these small cards.

These are my cards.

INSTRUCTIONS:
To start my 4 cards I cut a sheet of 12" X 12" White Daisy Cardstock in half 6 inches x 12 inches and then cut 3 inch stripes so I had my card bases 3x6 inches. I used the Score Board with the included Bone Folder to fold them into little 3x3 cards. I then took a peice of 12" X 12" Glacier Cardstock into strips 2.75 inches wide and then cut them into squares 2.75 x 2.75". I used offcuts of White Daisy Cardstock to create the titles and the accents using Glacier Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad and fussy cut them out with my Non-Stick Micro-Tip Scissors.

The glacier cardstock was embossed (see below for the individual folders I used for each one), then the edges were run along the Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad, in a sweeping motion, to create that rustic edge. The Glacier cardstock was adhered to the card bases with 3L® E-Z Dots® Adhesive. The white title got the black ink edging (as above), most were dove-tailed with the Non-Stick Micro-Tip Scissors. Then the title and embellishments were stuck on using Thin 3-D Foam Tape to get a little bit of dimension. To finish it all off I grabbed some 3" X 3" White Daisy Envelopes and stamped them with the Glacier Exclusive Inks™ with the heart design, to create a lovely little set of 4 cards.

I used the Floral Embossing Folder for the Awesome card (all other directions above).

I used the new Heart Embossing Folder for the Fabulous Card (all other directions above).

I used the Quatrefoil Embossing Folder for the Incredible Card (all other directions above).

I used the Dot Embossing Folder for the Wonderful Card (all other directions above).

The blog hop is a loop so follow along and you will end up right back here. To learn more about Operation Smile and the involvement Close to my Heart has with this important work keep reading below, otherwise, pop over and see what
Doris - Creative Inspirations has created.

Close to my Heart have been supporting Operation Smile since 2008, and during that time have supported Operation Smile to change the lives of over 1,500 children and their families.

As the Australian CTMH Business is only 18 months old we are new to Operation Smile and my first real experience learning about Operation Smile was at our Annual Convention 'Artistic Adventure' in Brisbane in October 2014. These photos are slides from that talk. Hearing that 1 in 10 children who is born with a cleft lip or palate dies before their first birthday was a massive wakeup call. In Australia these conditions can be repaired quickly and easily and are not usually fatal, in developing countries it is another matter.

During the presentation we were given an insight into what one of these medical missions entailed with the story of our Vice President Brian Holman sharing his experience and photos of a mission he went on.

Before the surgery, a little boy that touched Brian's heart. Notice the T-Shirt on Brian that says "Close to my Heart makes me SMILE!".
As Brian is not a medical person he went as a support person and a lot of his role was supporting the families and entertaining the children while they were waiting for their surgeries. It was a very moving talk hearing about the difference that this sort of surgery makes to these childrens lives. It only takes $275 (AUS dollars) to pay for 1 child to have their surgery. Go to the Operation Smile Australia website for further details http://australia.operationsmile.org.The difference in the lives of these children and their families was amazing. I was very moved to support this charity through my Close to My Heart Business.

After the surgery, Brian gave the mother his T-shirt after forming a bond with her and her little boy.

Thanks for joining me on this journey, I look forward to supporting this organisations and I am very happy that we can all give a small part by buying and using this adorable stamp set.

The “You’re the Bomb” stamp set is available from your CTMH consultant and $3USD from every purchase will go directly to Operation Smile until the end of March. You can also choose to make a donation of any size directly to your consultant, donations over $2 are tax deductable.
